Ryan Clark makes an outlandish comment about Joe Flacco’s selection as the Browns QB1
Kevin Stefanski was quick to dial Joe Flacco after Deshaun Watson ended up in rehab and Jameis Winston entered free agency. It was clear from the start that Stefanski viewed Flacco as the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback.
Despite Flacco’s experience, he wasn’t viewed as a long-term solution. So, the Browns searched for suitable additions.
Kenny Pickett was brought in via trade as the QB2 behind Flacco. General manager Andrew Berry drafted Oregon’s Dillon Garbiel as the potential future of the franchise.
However, the situation became muddied after the Browns also drafted Colorado graduate Shedeur Sanders. Sanders obviously came with a chip on his shoulder and a lot of fanfare.
The call to name Sanders the starter over the others gradually caught wind in the offseason. Stefanski refused to name his starting quarterback for the week one fixture against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Flacco left the decision to Stefanski.
I don’t know what the plan is exactly. But you know, I trust Kevin and that he has a plan for all this, and, you know, that’s really all I can do.

Flacco and Pickett shared reps with the first-team players during the camp, while Gabriel practiced with the second-stringers. Sanders was limited mostly to the third stringers.
The status quo changed after Sanders posted a two-touchdown performance in his debut game for the Browns. A large section of the fanbase demanded to see Sanders as the starting quarterback for the Browns.
Sanders missed the following game with an oblique injury. It gave Gabriel the chance to increase his stock. His 70% pass completion was overshadowed by an interception, two turnovers, and a misinterpreted statement.
On Sunday, Stefanski stated that he will finally reveal the name of the starting quarterback for the week one fixture.
Obviously, we’ll name a starter. It’s going to come this week. We still anticipate all of our players, whether you’re a starter or not, to prepare like you’re the starter, and knowing all of our players in that room, that’s exactly what they’ll do.

A day later, the Browns declared Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback.
Clark Bizarrely Compares Joe Flacco to Jesus Christ on Live TV
Flacco is entering his 18th season in the NFL. The Super Bowl winner has an abundance of experience, making him the most suitable candidate to lead the Browns for the time being.
Stefanski’s announcement made waves on the internet, and its ripple effect was seen on live TV. During Monday Night Countdown on ESPN, retired NFL player turned analyst Ryan Clark compared Flacco’s second innings in the league with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Joe Flacco must have the faith of a mustard seed. Because this is the greatest resurrection since Jesus the Christ.

Furthermore, the Browns might keep all four of their quarterbacks.
I expect the Cleveland Browns to carry four quarterbacks on their final 53-man roster. I expect to have four for there. They’re going to keep both rookies [Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders]. They’re going to keep Flacco… So really talking about Kenny Pickett, and I expect he makes the roster .
