Should the Seahawks make a trade offer for Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers?
The Seattle Seahawks are entering the regular season with question marks at wide receiver behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp. Rookie Tory Horton was super impressive throughout training camp, but is currently dealing with a minor injury. Veteran free-agent add Marquez Valdes-Scantling has struggled to make the desired impact and is no longer guaranteed to make the 53-man roster.
If GM John Schneider is looking to upgrade his pass-catching corps, a potentially intriguing opportunity just revealed itself. Las Vegas Raiders No. 1 receiver Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade due to an ongoing contract dispute. The Raiders are of course coached by former Seahawks HC Pete Carroll.
#Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers recently met with team brass and requested to be traded, per me and @TomPelissero.
The team, citing his value, said they had no plans to do so. Meyers and the team attempted to negotiate a new contract, but could not come to terms. pic.twitter.com/GM2oUMDjt3

Meyers registered a career-high 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns throughout 2024. The former NC State wideout is slated to enter the final year of his deal, and is scheduled to earn an underpaid base salary of $10.5 million. Given the current state of the wide receiver market, Meyers is undoubtedly searching for a significant pay-raise.

Meyers probably won't even get traded. Trade requests have become a negotiation tactic nowadays. On Monday alone, Trey Hendrickson and Terry McLaurin signed new contracts with their respective teams after also requesting trades earlier this offseason. Meyers is probably trying to light a fire under the Raiders.
It's extremely unlikely the Seahawks would even make the Raiders a tempting offer. Schneider doesn't love acquiring players via trade who need new contracts. That's especially notable at wide receiver, with Smith-Njigba due a new contract soon. Also, the run-heavy Seahawks probably won't be pass-oriented enough to support JSN, Kupp, and Meyers in the offense.
