‘She Works Hard for It’: Fans Defend Former ‘DWTS’ Pro After TikTok Criticism
Lindsay Arnold is used to being in the spotlight, but her latest TikTok has fans buzzing for a very different reason.
The former “Dancing With the Stars” pro dancer shared a playful video from a girls’ trip in Aspen, but what was meant as a lighthearted joke about shopping quickly divided viewers, sparking both criticism and support.
TikTok Video Leaves Viewers Torn
The former professional dancer shared the video on TikTok on Saturday, August 23. Arnold was on vacation with her family when she shared the video.
In the clip, Arnold can be seen shaking her head while holding up two shopping bags. One of those bags happens to be from Gucci and the other from Louis Vuitton.
She captioned the video, “Ugh hate when this happens… 😜”
Viewers could also see the text over the video, which said, “When you got peer pressured by your sisters into buying way too many things while on your girls trip in Aspen….”
Some Found It Inappropriate
While the video was meant to be playful, people still had some negative comments to share. Many of those commenters felt that Lindsay Arnold was being insensitive with her designer splurge.
One person wrote, “Seems super appropriate for the times.” Another person wrote, “Over consumerism core 😍.”
A third person added, “I bought food today.”
Others were saying this situation was “rich people problems,” and “it must be nice” for Arnold to have this situation on her hands.
The TikTok video also made its way to Reddit, where some people agreed with the criticism on TikTok. People said the former “DWTS” dancer had “zero self-awareness” and she was “bragging” about her wealth.
Fans & Former ‘DWTS’ Pros Come to Her Defense
While some people seemed to be offended by the video, many others came to the defense of Arnold. She was a pro dancer on “Dancing With the Stars” for 10 seasons, so they said she earned her money through her dance career and now her presence on social media.
One fan wrote, “I had a feeling the comments were going to be mean. You work hard for your money, you go Lindsay.😅❤️.”
Another fan commented, “She works hard for it! I’m not sure why everyone is complaining 😂.”
Many other fans wanted to see what was in the bags, as one person wrote, “Unboxing PLEASE 😍😍😍😍.”
“DWTS” pro Emma Slater seemed to agree, saying, “Reveal!!!!!! We want a bag reveal!” She listened and showed off her haul in the video above.
Arnold last appeared on “DWTS” during season 30 in 2021. At that time, she was partnered with Matt James.
Currently, her younger sister, Rylee Arnold, is also a “Dancing With the Stars” pro and is expected to return for season 34 this fall.
