Seahawks Share Update on Fan Favorite WR Jake Bobo After Scary Collison

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jake Bobo and defensive back Tyler Hall were both injured during a fair catch situation at the team’s final preseason game, which they lost 20-7 to the Green Bay Packers. 

Bobo was attempting to make a fair catch during the second quarter when he collided with the back of Hall’s leg. Both men required assistance from the training staff. Bobo was able to walk off the field under his own power, while Hall was eventually carted off after being helped into the blue medical tent.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald shared postgame that Bobo suffered a concussion but is in good spirits. While Hall has a knee injury and initial diagnosis is it’s not too serious.

“Considering what it looked like, I think we’re fortunate that’s what we’re dealing with at this point,” Macdonald said. “That was scary.”

Jake Bobo Was Looking Forward to New NFL Season

Bobo, the 27-year-old fan favorite, went undrafted in 2023 out of UCLA. He signed with the Seahawks after the draft. He started three games for the Seahawks last season.

Seattle’s top receivers are Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, who signed with the Seahawks in March. Another free agent signee, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, was expected to lose the No. 3 spot to fast-rising fifth-round pick Tory Horton, but Horton is dealing with an ankle injury. Entering his third season, Bobo is the next man up.

In total this preseason, Bobo had five receptions for 51 yards and two touchdowns. He recently praised the Seahawks new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak for bringing ingenuity and creativity to the offense. Bobo predicted that the Seahawks would have one of the top offenses in the NFL.

“I mean, you guys are going to see it, but it’s really cool what Kubs is doing,” Bobo said last week.

Tyler Hall Avoided Serious Injury in Collision

Hall, the 26-year-old veteran cornerback, went undrafted out of Wyoming in 2020. He has played in 27 NFL games from 2020 to 2023. He won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams in 2022, but never saw the field.

Hall first signed with the Seahawks practice squad in September 2024, but was released three days later. After a short stint on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice, Hall signed with Seattle again.

Macdonald said Hall likely avoided serious injury on the collision with Bobo.

“He’s got a knee (injury), but we don’t think it’s that serious,” Macdonald said. “We think structurally it’s OK. We’ll image it and get all the information but right now, signs are positive long-term with Tyler.”
