NFL Insider Reveals Which Seahawks RB Could be ‘Better’ For New Offense
The Seattle Seahawks running back duo of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet has seen the former be the preferred option over the last seasons.
Yet, one NFL Insider seems to believe Charbonnet could be the better option for this Seahawks’ offense in 2025.
Daniel Jeremiah Hints at Zach Charbonnet Being the Better Back for the Seahawks in 2025
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network had some noteworthy thoughts about the Seattle Seahawks running back depth chart on a recent episode of the Brock and Salk podcast from Seattle Sports where his comments hint towards Charbonnet potentially being the best RB1 option for this offense in 2025.
“I’m just watching him run and I’m sitting there going, I like Kenneth, but I’m not so sure that the other guy (Charbonnet) isn’t better,” said Jeremiah, “I think he sees it better. To me, I think he’s just got better vision.”
Walker has never played more than 15 games in a season and played a career-low 11 games in 2024. This opened the door a bit for Charbonnet to see an expanded role last season, where the UCLA product finished with a career-high 909 total yards and nine scores.
Jeremiah believes that Charbonnet’s vision could be better suited for this new offensive scheme under Klint Kubiak.
Jeremiah added, “You can call the same run play five times and the crease might be different every single time. So, hesitation and pause, that’s not a friend in this system. You’ve gotta be able to see it, sort it and go. And I just think Charbonnet sees things faster and he gets to and through the hole quicker.
“Look, if you’re gonna run crack toss outside, Kenneth Walker can do that all day long. But in terms of being able to sift and sort inside and find the crease, I just think Charbonnet is a little more comfortable with that at this point.”
Daniel Jeremiah Isn’t Alone in Thinking Zach Charbonnet Could be the RB1 in Seattle in 2025
There could be fire with there is some smoke because Daniel Jeremiah isn’t alone in thinking Charbonnet could be the leading back in Seattle with former NFL quarterback Brock Huard boldly giving Charbonnet his stamp approval for the UCLA product for potentially earning the starting running back position in 2025.
“Zach Charbonnet is gonna start versus the 49ers Week 1 at home,” Huard boldly stated, “That’s just taking in all of this information and it’s doing the Mike Macdonald thing: you pay off the guys that earn it. Zach Charbonnet has earned this.”
Charbonnet had a breakout game with 134 rushing yards, seven receptions for 59 yards, and two touchdowns in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals last season when Walker was unavailable due to injury.
If Walker can’t stay healthy and doesn’t bounce-back quickly from his career-low 3.75 yards per carry in 2024, then Charbonnet could be the leading ball carrier for the Seahawks in 2025 and beyond.
