Saving Luna: The Shocking and Controversial Decision That Will Change EVERYTHING in The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful could have gone the safe, easy route and killed off Luna after her latest crime spree—holding Hayes’ teacher, Ms. Dylan, hostage, threatening and waving a gun at Steffy, and shooting her grandmother, Sheila, and Liam. But instead, the soap opted to save the deliciously devious character, and it was the best choice possible.
Sweet Poison
Talented young actresses like Lisa Yamada are few and far between, and she is a bona fide star as Luna. She even earned a 2025 Daytime Emmy nomination as Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series for her multifaceted portrayal of the character. Yamada’s Luna is a complex blend of sweetness and light on the outside, but danger and darkness on the inside.
There’s incredible depth to Luna, and Yamada never misses a beat in her delivery. She has the capacity to evoke genuine sympathy when she’s begging Finn (Tanner Novlan) to be her dad, and abject fear when she’s threatening Steffy or sweet Electra (Laneya Grace).
Driving Force
Killing off Luna would have been a huge mistake. She has the capacity to drive too much storyline to ever be laid to rest. She’s the modern-day Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), a diabolical dynamo who demands all eyes be on her whenever she’s onscreen. And during her short span on the show, she’s developed ties with the bulk of its characters.
Aside from being a constant thorn in Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn’s marriage, she also has a complicated relationship with her mother, Poppy (Romy Park), that longs to be resolved.
She bamboozled Bill (Don Diamont) into riding to her rescue, only to burn him when she nearly killed Liam (Scott Clifton). And Deacon (Sean Kanan) loathes her for murdering Tom and Hollis, which has been a huge point of contention between him and Sheila.
Plus, let’s not forget that Luna had flings with both RJ (Joshua Hoffman) and Zende (Delon de Metz). Suffice it to say that few characters have been untouched by the long arm of Luna.
Young Love Triangle
As if all of the above weren’t reasons enough to keep Luna on the B&B canvas, where she can continue to wreak havoc, there’s also great potential for her to impact the budding Will (Crew Morrow) and Electra (Laneya Grace) romance. Luna has made it abundantly clear that she lusts after Bill’s youngest son and intends to pull out all the stops to get him.
This sets the stage for a classic young love triangle, where Will will find himself caught between the good girl, sweet, virtuous Electra, and the bad girl, tempting vixen, Luna.
