‘Bachelor’ Alum Raven Gates Cries at Preschool Drop-Off: ‘It Just Really Upset Me’
Raven Gates is just like Us when it comes to the ups and downs of back-to-school season.
The Bachelor alum, 34, cried after dropping off her sons, Gates, 3, and Max, 2, at preschool. Raven shared a video reel via Instagram on Wednesday, August 27, of the first day of school, which featured clips of her and husband Adam Gottschalk getting their sons ready.
“You’re going to be a good big brother to Maxie and show him your school?” Raven told Gates as she fixed his hair. The toddler let out a big squeal as his mom reacted.
Adam then carried the boys outside, where the family took photos together before getting into the car.
“Maxie doesn’t know what he’s in for today,” Raven stated. Adam, 35, added that he was “feeling much better this go around” knowing that the kids were going to “learn and have fun.”
“And you get some freedom back in our life,” he assured his wife, who smiled at the thought.
The joy turned to a bit of sadness, however, after Raven questioned whether Max was ready to start school.
“Max I’m a little worried about,” she told Adam, who responded, “You need to stop worrying. Just have fun. The kids are going to have a blast. It’ll all be good.”
The next clip showed Raven crying as she said drop-off “just really upset me.”
“Did that just not make you feel a little sad?” she asked her husband, who replied, “Not really sad. More happy. Sweet.”
Raven pulled herself together before laughing while admitting, “I’m a free woman for three hours.”
When her allotted alone time was up, Raven took to Instagram Stories to share a selfie. “I blinked and my three hours are up,” she wrote over the picture, alongside a laughing face emoji. “In the pickup line now.”
Raven and Adam captivated audiences in 2017 when they found love on Bachelor in Paradise season 4. (Raven was the runner-up on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor while Adam was a contestant on Rachel Lindsay‘s season of The Bachelorette.) They tied the knot in April 2021, and announced Gates’ arrival via social media in January 2022.
The couple welcomed their second son, Max, in July 2023 on Raven’s 32nd birthday.
“Literal BIRTHday,” Gates captioned a video via Instagram Stories at the time. “It just hit me — 32 years ago my mom was headed to the hospital with me! Super special sharing a birthday with this baby, but what a full circle moment my mom also did this on the same day.”
This July, Raven shared a birthday post for herself and her son via Instagram, writing, “My birthday wish for him is that he continues to surprise us with his gifts & his uniqueness. My birthday wish for myself is that I am always the mother both of my boys need to help them sky rocket into their destiny! I love you forever, Max.”
