Unnamed AFC GM sends stark warning that only Eagles fans will love to hear
Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman never takes a day off as his latest move sent a message to the rest of the NFL.
ESPN's Adam Schefter and DJ Bien-Aime reported the Eagles made a trade with the Houston Texans. Philadelphia acquired a Day 3 draft pick and wide receiver John Metchie. Houston acquired a Day 3 pick and tight end Harrison Bryant.
That wasn't the end of the news regarding the trade. NFL insider Jordan Schultz added a couple of other significant pieces to the news, including the Eagles beating the San Francisco 49ers' offer for Metchie. The other was a text Schultz received from an AFC general manager that no NFL teams want to read right now.
Does Roseman have something big cooking up for 2025?
The Eagles entered training camp with a projected 13 draft picks that will be available to them in the 2026 NFL Draft. That only means that Roseman will have plenty of ammunition to use to acquire big-name players.
Over the last few seasons, Roseman has pulled off big trades that include getting wide receiver A.J. Brown. Roseman has also not been afraid to go after big name free agents in running back Saquon Barkley during the 2024 offseason.
No team has been able to master the art of trade and the salary cap better than the Eagles have. A lot of credit has to be given to Roseman who knows the value he can offer teams without giving the farm away.
This offseason and preseason have been a bit different for Roseman as he is making calculated, smaller trades that appear to be setting up the team for a big move if they want to. Roseman has traded away Kenny Pickett, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Bryce Huff, and Thomas Booker IV to get other players or collect more draft picks.
NFL teams will be sweating it out to see if the Eagles do make a monster trade, but right now, Roseman is setting his team up with a better salary cap situation and a younger roster that can still get fans excited.
