Tyrone Tracy Jr. opens up about having to replace Cam Skattebo in Giants lineup
Since this past Sunday, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and other New York Giants players have discussed how the club lost a "spark" and positive energy when first-year running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome dislocation of his right ankle, a fractured fibula and a ruptured deltoid ligament.
That said, some have seemingly forgotten that a Giants side that was already without star wide receiver Malik Nabers (torn ACL and meniscus) now won't have its leading ball-carrier through Week 18. While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, presumed Giants RB1 Tyrone Tracy Jr. opened up about attempting to replace Skattebo in the lineup.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. knows he can't be Cam Skattebo for Giants
"To be honest with you, I'm not going to try to be anyone else but Tyrone Tracy Jr.," he explained, per the Giants' website. "That's because that's all I can be on the football field. And I think that God has blessed me enough to go out there and just be myself."
ESPN stats show that Skattebo ended Week 8 leading the 2-6 Giants with 101 carries, 410 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. To compare, Tracy is third on the team with 159 yards and a single score that he tallied across 45 rushes. That's good for an average of 3.5 yards per carry.
As a rookie, Tracy accumulated 839 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 192 attempts. The 2024 fifth-round draft pick also contributed 38 receptions for 284 yards and a score last season. On Wednesday, Dart challenged his teammates "to pick it up" regarding the boost Skattebo had given the club this fall.
"I'm not going to try to really bring any extra energy," Tracy continued. "I'm just going to go out there and do what I can to put my team in the best situation possible. Whether it's running, catching the ball in the backfield, or blocking. Or really just being a cheerleader on the sideline when the defense is up or whatever. Whatever I've got to do to put my team in a great situation, I'm going to do that."
Have Giants lost faith after devastating injuries?
Giants fans are understandably fearing the worst regarding the rest of the campaign now that Skattebo and Nabers won't play again before September 2026 at the earliest. On Wednesday, Tracy indicated he and others in the locker room aren't giving up on this season.
"We all have the same faith," Tracy added during his comments. "...We all understand that what we've got and what we have in this locker room is all we need. We don't need anyone else to come and get us a win. We can really do it ourselves. I think we've shown that as well. We showed that we have what it takes. We just have to do it day in and day out."
Tracy will have an opportunity to impress when the Giants host the San Francisco 49ers (5-3) this coming Sunday. As of Thursday morning, ESPN BET had Big Blue as a 2.5-point underdog for that matchup.
Jayden Daniels Declares: "Injuries Won’t Stop Me, I Fight for the Team and Those Who Support Me!"

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has proven time and time again that resilience and determination are his core values. After suffering a right hamstring strain that kept him sidelined for several weeks, Daniels has emerged with a renewed focus and a message of unwavering strength. “I understand that injuries are a challenge, but I won’t let them stop me. Every injury, every obstacle is a part of the path I have to walk,” Daniels said, reflecting on his recovery process. “I fight not just for myself, but for the people who have always supported me—my teammates, my coaches, and the fans. They are my biggest motivation to stand strong. We won’t back down from any challenge. We will keep fighting, not just for personal goals but for the team’s collective success, for the belief we have in each other and in the journey we are building together.”

A Commitment to Overcoming Challenges
Daniels’ words speak volumes about his mindset and leadership style. It’s easy for athletes to get discouraged when faced with setbacks, but Daniels’ focus remains on the bigger picture. The injury that kept him out of action has only fueled his determination to come back stronger. “Injuries are part of the game, but they don’t define who I am or what I can achieve,” Daniels continued. “I’m more focused than ever on being there for my team, pushing through this and being the player they need me to be.”
His perspective aligns with the team’s overall mentality. Despite a tough season, the Commanders are rallying behind Daniels, knowing that his strength and leadership will be a key factor in their turnaround. “Jayden’s fight to come back and his commitment to us is exactly what we need,” said Head Coach Dan Quinn. “He’s the kind of player who lifts the entire team with his determination and belief in the process.”
Fighting for the Team and Fans
For Daniels, it’s about more than just personal recovery—it’s about the team, the fans, and the journey they are all on together. His passion for the game and the people around him is evident in everything he does. “I don’t want to let anyone down,” Daniels explained. “My teammates, my coaches, and the fans have been with me from the beginning. They’re the reason I push through the pain and give everything I’ve got. I know that every time I step back on the field, it’s not just for me—it’s for all of us.”
Daniels’ mindset and leadership have become a driving force for the Commanders as they look to make a push in the second half of the season. His dedication to overcoming adversity and his unwavering belief in his teammates will undoubtedly serve as inspiration as the team works toward their shared goals.
Looking Ahead: A Bright Future
As Daniels continues his recovery and prepares for his eventual return, the Commanders are optimistic about what’s to come. The team’s chances of success rest not only on Daniels’ ability to lead but also on the collective efforts of everyone working toward a common purpose. “We have a lot to prove, and we’re ready to get back out there and show everyone what we can do,” Daniels said, his resolve stronger than ever.
With Daniels ready to make his return, the Commanders’ chances of success are looking brighter. His message of perseverance and teamwork is exactly what the team needs to turn things around, and the entire organization is rallying behind him as they prepare for the next challenge. The road ahead may not be easy, but with Daniels leading the way, the team is more determined than ever to succeed.
