Terry McLaurin’s Long Contract Wait Pays Off with $96 Million Deal and Week 1 Return
The long, drawn-out contract saga between Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders is finally over, and don't think "Scary Terry" isn't over the moon about it.
McLaurin, after holding out all of training camp, put pen to paper on a three-year, $96 million deal as he can now begin his ramp-up towards Week 1 and hit the field in great shape.
But did McLaurin get the sort of deal he was after?
“I did,” McLaurin said on if he got the deal he wanted. “It was a long process and there's no playbook or script on how to handle this situation. You start out one way and then you hope that it ends the way it's ended. I'm thankful for this process to just be able to be back on the field.
"It's definitely been a process, but I'm really happy to be back out here with my teammates and just very thankful to be a part of this organization and a part of this fan base that's supported me through all of this. So, it's exciting.”
The contract saga was looming as a dark cloud over the organization with Dan Quinn's regime so far, having no big bumps in the road until McLaurin's contract came up.
Now that it's sorted, the Commanders, who many think will be in the Super Bowl conversation, have their full offensive weaponry set to be available for Week 1 against the New York Giants.
Yes, it was a long, drawn-out process, but McLaurin got the deal he desired.
Now it's time to go win football games.
