Terry McLaurin’s Latest Move Hints at Potential Contract Resolution
The Washington Commanders are taking on the Baltimore Ravens in their preseason finale on Saturday afternoon. And yet, all anyone can discuss regarding this team is their ongoing contract dispute with star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. However, his latest move may indicate that a deal could be on the horizon.
All offseason long, McLaurin has made it clear that he’s looking for a new contract from the Commanders, and yet, the front office has been unable to meet his demands. With Week 1 quickly approaching, time is running out for a deal to be made, but an eye-opening move from the player could be a sign of a potential resolution.
Terry McLaurin in Attendance for Commanders’ Preseason Finale
The Commanders selected McLaurin in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and ever since then, he’s become one of the most productive wide receivers in the league. With Jayden Daniels taking over under center in 2024, McLaurin enjoyed his most productive season in the NFL, catching 82 passes for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, earning the second Pro Bowl selection of his career and a spot on the All-Pro Second Team.
Considering how McLaurin is entering the final year of his contract, it’s not a surprise that he’s looking for a new deal. However, his desire to make upwards of $30 million per year has thrown off Washington’s front office, and they haven’t been able to agree on a contract just yet. With Week 1 right around the corner, both sides are running out of time to fix this situation.
Over the past week or so, reports have indicated that some progress has been made, but until pen is put to paper, fans are going to be concerned about their star playmaker’s status. While it’s not an indication that a deal is done, or necessarily even close to being completed, McLaurin turned heads by attending the Commanders’ preseason finale on Saturday, and while he’s been around the team for awhile now, this is the latest sign that he could be close to getting a new deal.
Commanders Need to Resolve Their Contract Dispute with Terry McLaurin

Even with the team’s decision to acquire Deebo Samuel in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, McLaurin is an incredibly important piece of Washington’s offense. He already has an established rapport with Daniels under center, and his ability to create big plays from seemingly out of nowhere makes the Commanders’ offense all the more dangerous.
The longer McLaurin remains off the field, the more damage Washington is doing to itself and its offense in the 2025 season. McLaurin’s contract demands are steep, but as last season’s run to the NFC Championship Game shows, this team is on the verge of being a true Super Bowl contender. It’s tough to truly say that if they don’t have McLaurin on the field, and if the Commanders aren’t going to trade him, it’s time for them to pony up and give him what he is looking for.
