Steelers Rising Star's Quiet Struggle With Mental Health Before Discovering His True Purpose
Pittsburgh, PA – October 10, 2025 – The journey to the NFL is never easy, but for Pittsburgh Steelers rising star Jaylen Warren, his road to the league is defined by a strength forged in hardship, a relentless work ethic, and the unwavering determination to rise above a difficult past.
Warren, now an emerging force for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has faced challenges that few can truly understand. Growing up in a tough environment, Jaylen was no stranger to adversity. Raised in a single-parent household, he watched his mother fight tirelessly to provide for him and his siblings. With little financial support and a community that offered few opportunities, Jaylen had to rely on his own resilience to keep pushing forward, both on and off the field.
Despite these struggles, Jaylen's path was shaped by the love and support of his mother, who always emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and staying true to his goals. “My mom is my rock. She taught me the value of never giving up, no matter what life throws at you,” Warren shared. “We didn’t have much, but I always had her belief in me. She made me believe that anything is possible if you’re willing to work for it.”
Jaylen's journey wasn’t just about playing football—it was about proving to himself and others that no matter where you come from, you can achieve greatness. The adversity he faced only fueled his drive to succeed, and every setback became a stepping stone towards his ultimate goal. Through every challenge, Jaylen learned to use his pain as motivation, and it’s that resilience that has made him the player he is today.
As he embarks on his NFL career with the Steelers, Jaylen brings more than just athletic talent to the field. He carries the lessons of his past, a mindset forged through years of struggle and sacrifice. His story is a testament to the power of determination, and a reminder that success isn’t defined by where you start, but by how hard you’re willing to fight for your dreams.
Reflecting on his journey to the NFL, Jaylen looks back at the moment he received his first paycheck. While the financial achievement was a milestone, it was the emotional moment when his mother expressed her pride in him that truly resonated. After years of hardship, hearing her say how proud she was of him felt like the culmination of everything they had worked for.
“Getting that first paycheck was huge for me, but it was hearing my mom tell me how proud she was that really made it special,” Warren said. “She’s been there through every struggle, and having her share that moment with me was everything.”
For the Steelers, Jaylen Warren is not just a player with tremendous potential; he’s a symbol of resilience, perseverance, and the strength to overcome adversity. His story is an inspiration to everyone facing challenges, showing that no matter where you come from, success is possible if you stay focused and keep fighting. As Jaylen continues to carve out his NFL career, he carries with him the lessons of his past, inspiring others to push through their own obstacles and reach for greatness.
Browns Add Veteran Cornerback to Active Roster Ahead of Steelers Game

The Cleveland Browns have been a very busy team over the past couple of weeks. With the front office swinging three different trades recently, that has resulted in the roster continuously changing on the fly. The most recent trade the team swung saw them pick up Tyson Campbell from the Jacksonville Jaguars, with Greg Newsome II heading the other way.
Campbell will draw the start alongside Denzel Ward in Week 6, but he’s going to need some time to get up to speed with the new defensive scheme he has suddenly found himself a part of. As a result, the team is adding some more depth at cornerback before their upcoming contest in the form of Tre Avery.
Browns Elevate Tre Avery from Practice Squad to Active Roster
Avery didn’t get selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he has managed to establish himself as a depth option at cornerback throughout his time in the league. Avery initially broke into the league with the Tennessee Titans, which is where he spent the first three seasons of his career, appearing in 38 games, five of which were starts.
Late in the 2024 season, the Titans opted to release Avery, but he was quickly scooped up by the San Francisco 49ers. He ultimately didn’t suit up for them, though, as he got released in early August before spending time with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the month. He didn’t make either of their final rosters, though, and after he got released by the Bucs, he eventually found his way to the Browns’ practice squad.
Since landing with Cleveland, Avery has appeared in two games, racking up four tackles during his limited time on the field. Now, Avery has been elevated to the active roster for the third straight game, and with Campbell adjusting to his new team, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him earn a decent chunk of snaps on Sunday.
“The Cleveland Browns have elevated CB Tre Avery from the practice squad,” the team announced on its official website Saturday afternoon.

The 2025 season is only five weeks old, but it’s already been a bit of a wild ride for the Browns this year. They have moved on from Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback, trading him to the Cincinnati Bengals last week after Dillon Gabriel shined in his first professional start. Now, he will be leading the team for the foreseeable future, with the hope being that he can solidify himself as the team’s quarterback of the future.
In Week 6, Cleveland has a tough matchup on its hands against one of its division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. After enjoying their bye week in Week 5, the Steelers will be returning to action and looking for a win on Sunday, and they will be heavily favored to do so. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET, and the Browns will be looking to play spoiler and help Gabriel earn the first win of his young career.
