Star NFL trade deadline target linked to Cowboys now considered 'untouchable'
Over the course of the next few weeks, the Dallas Cowboys will be linked to several top players who are available leading up to the NFL trade deadline. That's just the way the news cycle works.
Every time speculation about a high-profile player getting a change of scenery surfaces, the Cowboys are tied into the story to make things juicier.
So, naturally, when there were reports that multiple teams were interested in Tennessee Titans star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, the Cowboys were named as a team that could be in the mix.
Early Saturday, Simmons was specifically mentioned as a "plus-sized talent" who interested Jerry Jones. Well, in the immortal words of the legendary Lee Corso, "Not so fast, my friends."

Dianna Russini of The Athletic said that Simmons is one of only two Titans players who are "untouchable" in trade deadline talks. The other player is No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward.
Now that Simmons is off the table and Cincinnati Bengals star Trey Hendrickson is also less likely to be traded, it will be interesting to see what type of player the Cowboys pursue if they decide to get active.
There is room for improvement on the defensive side of the ball, so there will still be plenty of options for Jerry Jones and company to make a move on.

Jalen Hurts provides a measured review of Eagles' offense at the end of camp

One preseason game remains. With one final Wednesday practice, the curtain was drawn on the Philadelphia Eagles' 2025 training camp. Jalen Hurts' day began with Philadelphia's social media team capturing him sharing a moment with a young and excited fan. It ended with him spending a few minutes with the media.
The next time Hurts and the press meet, the roster will be at 53 players and a 16-man practice squad. Well... Should we say 17 players if we include the international exemption, Laekin Vakalahi? Time will tell, but after OTAs, mandatory minicamp, and a pair of preseason games, we've learned much about the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles.
One thing no one needed to teach us was that this is Jalen Hurts' team. He enters year six with a new coordinator. What else is new?
Some see recently promoted Kevin Patullo as this team's biggest unknown, its biggest wild card. What does Hurts think? He offered his theory before Philadelphia heads north to tackle the New York Jets in the preseason finale for both teams.
That settles that. While we're on the subject, frankly, we aren't worried about Coach Patullo at all.
Here's a man who has known Sirianni for many years. He has been part of this Eagles coaching staff since Coach Sirianni took over. We have two words for you. Smooth transition... We don't have the physical evidence to prove our point yet, but write that down and commit it to memory. The Eagles offense won't be void of any fireworks in 2025.
