Should the Seahawks trade for Cowboys DT Mazi Smith?
The Seattle Seahawks entered the regular season without a traditional nose tackle on their active 53-man roster. Quinton Bohanna was elevated from the practice squad and played 10 defensive snaps in Sunday's Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The Seahawks did a good, not great, job of stopping the run.
Christian McCaffrey rushed for 69 yards, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. But his backup Brian Robinson chipped in with 33 additional rushing yards. The 49ers outgained the Seahawks 119-84 on the ground.
There still isn't a nose tackle on the active roster. Bohanna and/or Brandon Pili are options to be elevated from the practice squad in Week 2 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Alternatively, there's an opportunity to acquire a young player John Schneider may consider exploring.
Former Dallas Cowboys first-round pick Mazi Smith was a healthy scratch for their Week 1 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. Indications are Smith will be inactive again in Week 2. The Cowboys consider him to be a first-round bust, and would probably consider trading him for very little return.
Jerry Jones indicated on @1053thefan that the Cowboys will go with the same look at DT this week vs. the Giants, which means no Mazi Smith. Jones said he's excited by what he's seen from 7th round pick Jay Toia.

Smith obviously hasn't met pre-draft expectations. He'd be playing for the Cowboys otherwise. But perhaps a change of scenery could help Smith meet the potential he flashed at Michigan. The Seahawks have a clear-cut need at his position.

NFL Execs Shock Fans: Lamar Jackson for MVP, Jayden Daniels for OPOY—Are They Making the Right Choices?

In a bold and controversial decision, NFL executives have picked Lamar Jackson as their MVP and Jayden Daniels for Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY), but fans and analysts are divided over whether these choices are truly the best picks for these prestigious awards.
While Jackson has certainly shown flashes of brilliance this season, some are questioning if he’s truly been the best player in the league. His up-and-down performances, particularly in high-pressure games, have left some wondering if he’s had the consistency needed to earn the MVP nod. “Lamar has been great, but is he really the most valuable player in the league right now?” asked one outspoken critic. “There are other players who’ve carried their teams more effectively.”
On the other hand, Jayden Daniels’ OPOY selection has stirred even more controversy. While the young quarterback has had an impressive season, some believe other players in the running have had even better individual performances. “Daniels has been solid, but was he really more impactful than players like [insert player]?” questioned an NFL analyst. "This feels like a flashy pick rather than a truly deserving one."
These selections have raised eyebrows as both Jackson and Daniels are seen as rising stars, but are they really the top choices for these awards, or are NFL execs just trying to create a narrative around flashier players?
With the race for MVP and OPOY still wide open, this decision could spark debate and resentment among players, coaches, and fans for the rest of the season. Is Lamar Jackson’s MVP the right call? Did Jayden Daniels really earn the OPOY title?
