Proposed Trade Has Cowboys Swap Star for Packers $96 Million Pro Bowler
The conflict between the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons continues to play out publicly with Jerry Jones throwing more shade at the superstar’s agent David Mulugheta. Despite Parsons’ trade request, the Cowboys have shown no signs of moving the pass rusher.
This has not stopped ongoing NFL trade rumors about what the Cowboys could net in a potential blockbuster trade for Parsons. One team that continues to be mentioned as a potential landing spot for Parsons is the Green Bay Packers.

Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay offered a potential proposal that has the Cowboys acquiring both future draft picks and a proven veteran for Parsons. Let’s dive into the merits of this proposed blockbuster trade for the Cowboys and Packers.
Cowboys Rumors: The Packers Are Being Labeled a Top Fit for a Micah Parsons Trade
The deal has the Cowboys land first- and third-round picks for 2026 as well as second- and fourth-round selections in 2027. Additionally, Dallas acquires Pro Bowl defender Rashan Gary in the deal. The proposal is simple for Green Bay who acquires Parsons in the trade pitch.

“One squad that could meet the superstar’s price and may be willing to give up a hefty amount of assets in the process is Green Bay,” Kay wrote in an August 21, 2025, story titled, “1 Trade Each NFL Team Should Propose Before The 2025 Season.”
“The Packers have been on the cusp of contending for several years but lack a generational talent like Parsons to anchor their defensive front. If they are willing to give up a package that includes multiple Day 1 and 2 picks—as well as a quality talent such as Rashan Gary—it could be enough to get Dallas to move on from Parsons this offseason.”
Packers Pro Bowler Rashan Gary Would Cost the Cowboys Less Money Than Micah Parsons
While not to the level of Parsons, Gary is coming off his first Pro Bowl campaign. Gary posted 47 tackles, 15 quarterback hits, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 17 starts for the Packers in 2024.

The defender still has three seasons remaining on a four-year, $96 million contract. This is far from a bargain deal, but it is much less money than Parsons’ projected next contract.
ESPN Projects Micah Parsons’ Contract Value is a 4-Year, $172 Million Deal
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell projects Parsons will eventually land a four-year, $172 million contract.
“When Parsons signs his deal, whether that comes with the Cowboys or somebody else, it’ll top (T.J.) Watt’s average salary — and not by a few pennies,” Barnwell detailed in an August 12, article titled, “Dallas Cowboys contract mistakes with Parsons, Prescott, Lamb.” “The most likely contract is a four-year deal for $172 million, with a record average salary of $43 million per season.
“With Parsons’ $24 million salary for 2025 already guaranteed, that would come out to five years and $196 million, for an average of just over $39 million per year.”
Micah Parsons Predicted to Eventually Sign a New Deal With the Cowboys
As for the latest on Parsons’ negotiations with the Cowboys, things have turned even uglier. Jones claimed Parsons’ agent said some not nice things about Dallas’ offer, while Parsons has scrubbed his social media pages of anything Cowboys related.
Fans reliving the glory days by watching the Netflix series “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys” have likely been reminded that Dallas is no stranger to contentious negotiations. NFL Network’s Jane Slater predicts Parsons will eventually once again suit up for the Cowboys.
“I don’t have a crystal ball but here’s how I expect this to play out. Here soon Micah will talk to Jerry (because) Jerry ain’t trading him,” Slater noted in an August 22, message on X. “Micah is a competitor and he ain’t sitting or interested in losing game checks. The other thing likely wearing on him? Playing and getting hurt without security.
“Jerry will appreciate the ‘win’, so to speak, he’s been expecting it. Jones knows he has him for 3 more years if he wants. Jones secretly respects Micah’s mettle though. A worthy opponent in his favorite game ‘deals’.”
