NFL Makes Final Decision on Punishment for 2 Lions Players
The Detroit Lions had a fiery game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, October 12, and it was a game that both teams wanted to win, badly. But, there could only be one winner (unless you’re the Packers and Cowboys, apparently), and that was the Chiefs, who walked out of Arrowhead Stadium with a 30-17 win.
The Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs game had quite a few heated moments. The most high-profile, of course, was when Brian Branch brushed off Mahomes and hit Chiefs player Juju Smith-Schuster after the game. The NFL has suspended Branch one game, but he wasn’t the only Lions player who got slapped with discipline for their actions in that game.
Each week, the league penalizes players for conduct in the previous week’s games. The NFL states on their website that these actions are “to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures.” The new roster of players getting hit with punishments goes up every Saturday afternoon. Two Detroit Lions players are on this week’s tally.
Detroit Lions Players Get Punished By the NFL
Two Detroit Lions players, Alex Anzalone and Tyler Lacy, are getting punished by the NFL for their actions during the Chiefs game. The NFL is fining Anzalone $12,172 for “unnecessary roughness” and “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing.” They’re also fining Lacy $5,722 for the same reason.
The news came out in the NFL’s report for Week 6. The highest fines for this week went to L’Jarius Sneed of Tennessee, who has to pay $23,186 for “unnecessary roughness” for “use of a helmet” and Patrick Queen of the Steelers for a “blow to the head/neck” of the Browns’ quarterback.
According to the NFL, those fines will go to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.”
More Questionable Calls in Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs Game
The Lions and Chiefs game was filled with head-scratching moments. Early in the game, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff made a scoring touchdown, and the but it was called back by the ref after saying that Goff and the Lions offense hadn’t executed the trick play properly. So, the NFL overturned the touchdown.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell discussed the incident during his Wednesday, October 15, radio appearance on 97.1 FM The Ticket. As Campbell explained, he was informed that the league office in New York City had told the on the ground crew that the touchdown needed to be overturned. But, Craig Wrolstad, the head referee in the game, told reporters after the matchup that they actually didn’t get any call from the New York office on reversing the touchdown. So, what really happened?
We may never know, but what we do know is that the Detroit Lions are still rocking this year. Let’s hope they rock all the way to the postseason.
HEARTWARMING STORY: Jordan Love Launches “Puppy Haven” Sanctuary for Stray Dogs in Green Bay

GREEN BAY — In a world where athletes are often defined by their on-field performances, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is making headlines for something far more impactful than any highlight reel: his heartfelt commitment to helping stray dogs.
On September 29, Love opened the doors of “Puppy Haven,” a $5 million sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating homeless dogs in Green Bay. The sanctuary aims to provide stray dogs with the care, shelter, and love they desperately need. “There are so many dogs left on the streets, uncared for, and without hope,” Love said during the grand opening. “They deserve to be protected, healed, and given a home.”
Located in the heart of the city, Puppy Haven will offer a safe haven for dogs, featuring top-tier facilities including 24/7 veterinary services, a spay/neuter program, and recovery areas where dogs can heal both physically and emotionally. The sanctuary is designed to create a safe environment for animals in need, offering not only shelter but the hope of finding a loving family.
The mission of Puppy Haven goes beyond just providing shelter. Love has vowed to make sure the dogs receive proper medical attention, socialization, and rehabilitation before being rehomed. “This isn’t just about saving lives; it’s about restoring dignity to these animals. They deserve to feel loved and wanted,” Love said, visibly emotional during the opening ceremony.
While the sanctuary was built with a significant investment, the real value lies in the difference it will make in the lives of countless stray dogs. The initiative is a testament to Love’s deep compassion and commitment to his community. “I’ve always believed in using my platform for good,” he continued. “The biggest victory I can have isn’t in a game, it’s in seeing these little creatures find hope again.”
The Puppy Haven sanctuary has already received overwhelming support from animal lovers across Green Bay and beyond. The local community, including fellow Packers players and fans, have rallied behind the cause, donating funds, supplies, and their time. The grand opening event also featured a series of adoption drives and partnerships with local animal rescue groups, helping to spread awareness of the sanctuary’s mission.
Love is no stranger to giving back, having been involved in various charitable endeavors over the years. However, this new chapter in his life marks a significant turning point as he continues to channel his passion for helping those in need — both human and animal alike.
“The work is just beginning,” Love added. “This is just the start. There are so many more animals who need us, and I plan on doing everything I can to make sure they get the care and love they deserve.”
As Puppy Haven opens its doors, Love has set an example that transcends sports. In a world often focused on personal achievements and trophies, Love has shown that the true victories lie in making a real, lasting difference in the lives of others. For the strays of Green Bay, the real win is the hope of a second chance, and Jordan Love is leading the way to that brighter future.
