Justin Fields Sends Strong Message Ahead Of Jets' Week 2 Clash Vs. Bills
The New York Jets opened the 2025 campaign with a hard-fought 34-32 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1, and while they came up short, there's reason to be encouraged with their play. Perhaps the biggest reason of the bunch is the play of the team's new quarterback, Justin Fields.
In his debut for New York, Fields threw for 218 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 48 yards and another pair of scores. It ultimately wasn't enough to take down the Steelers, but there's reason to believe the Jets' offense could be better than expected in 2025.
Fields and company will face another tough challenge in Week 2, as they will take on a Buffalo Bills squad that is fresh off a wild 41-40 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. The Jets know they have their work cut out for them, but Fields revealed he's looking forward to the opportunity to take down the Bills.

"They have a system that's been in place there for a long time," Fields said of the Bills. "I think they have a bunch of smart players, they have a good front seven, they communicate well in the backend ... They have a great (defensive coordinator), he does a good job mixing stuff up, showing different blitzes and different coverages. It's gonna be a fun test coming up on Sunday."
Fields will have a shot to wreak havoc on Buffalo's run defense, as Baltimore torched them for 238 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in Week 1. With Fields, Breece Hall and Braelon Allen teaming up on the ground, the Jets could look to follow a similar game plan to the one the Ravens utilized in their season-opener.
Of course, the big difference is that the Jets want to win, and it may come down to whether or not their defense can slow down Josh Allen and the Bills' high-powered offense. New York held its own against Pittsburgh. Now, they will try to prove they are a legitimate playoff contender by pulling off an upset over Buffalo in Week 2.
Aaron Rodgers Fires Blunt Message to Jets After Steelers Win

The New York Jets unceremoniously parted ways with Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
Rodgers didn’t forget. After the Pittsburgh Steelers’34-32 win over the Jets, he sent a blunt message to his former team.
“There were probably people in the organization that didn’t think I could play anymore, so it was nice to remind those people that I still can,” Rodgers told the media on Sunday, September 7.

Rodgers Showed He Has Plenty of Gas Left in the Tank During Victory Over Jets
The former four-time MVP went off against the Jets.
He finished 22-of-30 (73% completion percentage), 244 passing yards, four touchdowns, to zero interceptions.
The NFL on CBS X account revealed that Rodgers made NFL history against the green and white. He became the first QB over the last six decades to post his stat line of 240 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a team debut “over [the] last 60 NFL seasons.”

“I love beating everybody. So doesn’t matter who it is. I only played 18 games here. I was actually talking to Breece [Hall] about that pre-game. He said, ‘How does it feel?’ I said honestly, I was here for two years, but it doesn’t come close to how it’s going to feel playing Green Bay because that was, you know, 18 years of my career. It was nice to win, especially hearing some of the catcalls out there and the boobirds. I’m not sensitive about that, I expected that, I kind of liked that,” Rodgers explained after the game.
Insider’s Rodgers Report Was Clearly Accurate Ahead of Season Opener
Ahead of the Week 1 matchup, NFL Insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic warned Jets fans about Rodgers.
“I’m told [Rodgers] has quietly had a phenomenal training camp for the Steelers. Rodgers, according to folks I’ve talked with in Pittsburgh, looks refreshed, healthy, and ready to roll,” Russini revealed.
“And while the Belichick-Patriots divorce remains messy, there’s no sense of lingering bad blood between Rodgers and the Jets; both sides believe the split was the right move. But if the future Hall of Famer walks back into MetLife Stadium and lights it up in Week 1, it will be hard for owner Woody Johnson and even Jets fans not to think, ‘What could have been…’,” Russini surmised.
Jets Should Feel Good About Their QB Situation
Rodgers certainly lit the Jets’ defense up like a Christmas tree. However, the team should not feel regret about parting ways with Rodgers.
The Jets lost in Week 1, but it wasn’t Justin Fields’ fault.
Fields played exceptionally well.
He finished 16-of-22 (73% completion percentage), with 218 passing yards, averaged 9.9 yards per attempt, and had one passing touchdown with no interceptions. Fields also added 48 yards rushing and two rushing scores, which tied a career high.
