Jets Have Had a WR Problem This Offseason
Garrett Wilson is the straw that stirs the drink for the Jets offense. That isn’t going to change anytime soon.
However, the lack of a Robin to his Batman has been a point of conversation throughout the offseason.
“Quarterback Justin Fields and the passing offense were out of sync, which is not surprising. They’ve been sputtering throughout most of training camp, with Fields unable to get the ball downfield to his wide receivers,” ESPN’s Rich Cimini posted on social media after the 31-12 preseason loss to the New York Giants.
“The lack of a legit WR2 to complement Wilson is one of the reasons why they’re not clicking,” Cimini added.

Now it appears general manager Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn are seriously exploring ways to add another pass catcher to the team via the trade market.

Jets Should Be Going All in Around Fields
If the Jets are going to make a splash, it should be on the offensive side of the ball.
For better or for worse, the Jets are all in on Fields. There are people inside that building who believe he can be a franchise quarterback, and there is another level to his game that hasn’t been unlocked yet.
Regardless of what anyone on the outside thinks, if that is believed inside the building, then the Jets owe it to themselves to put as many pieces around Fields as possible on offense.
If Fields flops this year, you don’t want it to be because you didn’t put enough weapons around him. If he flops, let it be on his own accord. Then you, as a team, should have zero regrets about whatever comes after that, because in theory, you would have tried everything in your power to allow that project to succeed.
The Jets are looking to add another weapon on offense and that is good for business in 2025.
