HEARTWARMING STORY: Joe Flacco Launches "Puppy Haven" Sanctuary for Stray Dogs in Cleveland
CLEVELAND — In a world where athletes are often defined by their on-field performances, Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco is making headlines for something far more impactful than touchdowns or highlight plays: his heartfelt commitment to helping stray dogs.
On September 29, Flacco opened the doors of “Puppy Haven,” a $5 million sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating homeless dogs in Cleveland. The sanctuary aims to provide stray dogs with the care, shelter, and love they desperately need. "There are so many dogs left on the streets, uncared for, and without hope," Flacco said during the grand opening. "They deserve to be protected, healed, and given a home."
Located in the heart of the city, Puppy Haven will offer a safe haven for dogs, featuring top-tier facilities including 24/7 veterinary services, a spay/neuter program, and recovery areas where dogs can heal both physically and emotionally. The sanctuary is designed to create a safe environment for animals in need, offering not only shelter but the hope of finding a loving family.
The mission of Puppy Haven goes beyond just providing shelter. Flacco has vowed to make sure the dogs receive proper medical attention, socialization, and rehabilitation before being rehomed. “This isn’t just about saving lives; it’s about restoring dignity to these animals. They deserve to feel loved and wanted,” Flacco said, visibly emotional during the opening ceremony.
While the sanctuary was built with a significant investment, the real value lies in the difference it will make in the lives of countless stray dogs. The initiative is a testament to Flacco’s deep compassion and commitment to his community. “I’ve always believed in using my platform for good,” he continued. “The biggest victory I can have isn’t in a game, it’s in seeing these little creatures find hope again.”
The Puppy Haven sanctuary has already received overwhelming support from animal lovers across Cleveland and beyond. The local community, including fellow Browns players and fans, have rallied behind the cause, donating funds, supplies, and their time. The grand opening event also featured a series of adoption drives and partnerships with local animal rescue groups, helping to spread awareness of the sanctuary’s mission.
Flacco is no stranger to giving back, having been involved in various charitable endeavors over the years. However, this new chapter in his life marks a significant turning point as he continues to channel his passion for helping those in need — both human and animal alike.
“The work is just beginning,” Flacco added. “This is just the start. There are so many more animals who need us, and I plan on doing everything I can to make sure they get the care and love they deserve.”
As Puppy Haven opens its doors, Flacco has set an example that transcends sports. In a world often focused on personal achievements and trophies, Flacco has shown that the true victories lie in making a real, lasting difference in the lives of others. For the strays of Cleveland, the real win is the hope of a second chance, and Joe Flacco is leading the way to that brighter future.
Four weeks in, Carson Schwesinger is already proving something to the Browns

Few, if any, rookies have been as positively impactful to their team as Carson Schwesinger through four weeks of the 2025 NFL campaign. It hasn't necessarily shown up in the win-loss column just yet, but the Cleveland Browns' burgeoning linebacker has been a legitimate difference-maker from the jump.
Schwesinger's immediate contributions are one of the notable reasons the Browns boast arguably the best defense in football. He's wasted no time settling into an every-down role, proving capable of handling a significant workload and dominating with it. Albeit a small sample size, the Browns seemingly found a long-term mainstay with the No. 33 overall pick in this year's draft.
Browns rookie LB Carson Schwesinger looks like a star in the making
Pro Football Focus (PFF) lists Schwesinger as the third-highest-graded player among his newcomer classmates thus far with a high-quality 84.1 overall mark ($). If there's one area he's been average yet satisfactory in, it's pass rushing. Nevertheless, the Browns have been willing and able to lean on him in every facet of the game.
Whether Schwesinger is disrupting the opposing quarterback, stopping the run or dropping back in coverage, he has fared well, displaying tremendous versatility. The former UCLA standout even returned to his special teams roots that landed him a walk-on opportunity with the Bruins. Talk about a total package and a jack of all trades.
At this rate, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski may ask Schwesinger to master plumbing and help with some yard work. The latter's do-it-all skill set gives Cleveland a chess piece it can move around the formation. Browns perennial Defensive Player of the Year shortlist candidate Myles Garrett spotlights an ace in the hole like this by simply existing, and it's shown.
Oddsmakers give Schwesinger the third-shortest betting odds to earn Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, and rightfully so. Approximately a quarter of the way through his first season as a pro, he has 31 tackles (two for loss), two quarterback hits and a sack. Keeping him off the final voting ballot will be difficult if this continues, and that could only be the beginning of the awards and recognition.
Cleveland did an excellent job of adding young talent this past offseason, identifying several prospects with the potential to be franchise players. Schwesinger has perhaps been the most impressive of the bunch, flashing immense upside in his early Browns career.
