Teddi Mellencamp gives major health update in stage 4 cancer battle
Teddi Mellencamp revealed her stage 4 cancer is “gone” as she gave a positive health update on her “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast.
“Just to give a little life update to you guys, I had my immunotherapy yesterday and I did my scans and at this point there is no detectable cancer,” she told guest host Dolores Catania on Friday’s episode.
“When they told me, I was in such shock. I was like, numb. I’m still going to be having days when I’m feeling sick and stuff because I still am in immunotherapy, so I’m still fighting because you have to be.”
Mellencamp clarified that she’s not entirely out of the woods yet, however, saying, “I’m not considered in remission or anything like that.”
“The way the [doctors] said it works, it’s like one year, then two years, then at three years you’re allowed to be considered … in remission,” she explained. “But that was huge news yesterday.”
The positive update comes after Mellencamp previously revealed that she was pausing immunotherapy treatments due to them making her feel sick.
“They did a bunch of scans and everything’s looking good, everything’s shrinking … but it’s showing that’s why I medically feel so sick is from the immunotherapy,” the 44-year-old explained on her podcast.
“So we’re going to take a little break on the immunotherapy to get my body back feeling stronger. And I’m on steroids and we’re doing everything that we can to get me back to feeling like I can do this, I can do all the things.”
The “Real Housewives” alum came forward with her stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in 2022.
After undergoing several procedures to address her cancer-related tumors over the years, Mellencamp revealed in April 2025 that her cancer had spread to her brain and lungs and progressed to stage 4.
At the time, she claimed doctors told her she had a “50/50” chance of surviving the deadly disease.
“It’s one of my favorite things to ask is, ‘How long I got?’ Or, ‘What are my chances?’ And they often times say, ’50/50,’” Mellencamp said during a sit-down interview with “Nightline.”
She went on to mimic her shocked reaction and recalled telling doctors, “’50/50?! I wouldn’t buy a car that’s only gonna drive 50 percent of the time. I don’t want this!’”
