Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Sends Prayers to Ex-Teammate
The Kansas City Chiefs look to snag their third consecutive win of the season when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes played his best game of the season during Kansas City’s 37-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens last week. Mahomes completed 25-of-37 passes for 270 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions during the statement victory.
The three-time Super Bowl MVP also made NFL history after becoming both the youngest and fastest quarterback to record 250 passing touchdowns.
The following day, Mahomes tuned into the Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins, two AFC teams looking to nab their first win of the season. Mahomes’ former teammate, wide receiver Tyreek Hill, was on pace for a monster game.
During the third quarter, Dolphins quarterback Tyreek Hill connected with Hill, and on third down, however, the five-time First-Team All-Pro fell awkwardly and suffered a gruesome leg injury.

Before exiting the game, Hill recorded six catches for 67 yards. While Mahomes immediately reacted to Hill’s injury on social media, Mahomes revealed he spoke to the 31-year-old wide receiver after his injury and shared insight into their conversation. Throughout the first three weeks of the 2025 NFL season, Hill registered 15 catches for 198 yards and one touchdown.
Patrick Mahomes Sent Prayers To Tyreek Hill, Is ‘Excited’ For His Comeback

Hill kicked off his NFL career in Kansas City after the team drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft. With Mahomes as his QB1, Hill won his first and only championship ring after playing a key role in the Chiefs’ win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, October 2, Mahomes revealed he reached out to Hill, who underwent surgery on Tuesday after tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL.
“I talked to him a little bit,” Mahomes said. “More than anything, sending prayers his way… I know how hard he works. I’m excited to watch his comeback now. Obviously, praying for him and his family.”
The Chiefs traded Hill to the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 NFL season. Kansas City received five draft picks: a 2022 first-round pick (No. 29), second-round pick (No. 50), and a fourth-round pick, plus a fourth and sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft.
Tyreek Hill’s Agents Sounds Confident That The Dolphins Star Can Make A Comeback Next Season

At age 31, one has to wonder if this isn’t just a season-ending injury for Hill, but a career-ending knee injury. Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, however, sounds confident that the eight-time Pro Bowler will be back on the field in 2026.
“All of the torn ligaments went back into place naturally,” Rosenhaus told 7 Sports. “There is no nerve damage, no blood flow issues, no broken bones, the cartilage is fine.” While there was initial concern that a second surgery might be required, Rosenhaus said that’s no longer in the cards. “The goal is for him to be back to himself by the start of next season.”
Buccaneers player lands award the team hasn’t seen in 10 years

Many Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans were scratching their heads when the Bucs used their first-round pick on a wide receiver with so many needs on defense. No one is wondering why now.
The Bucs picked Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the No. 19 pick in the draft, and all he's ever done since then is show out. Noted for his poise as a rookie, Egbuka came to Tampa Bay with a sky-high floor but has showcased just how high his ceiling could be, too.
Egbuka's first month in the NFL has been a stellar one, catching for 282 yards and four touchdowns, and now, he's been recognized by the NFL for his efforts. Egbuka was named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month for his efforts, and he's the first Bucs player to win such an award in quite a long time.
Emeka Egbuka is the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month

Egbuka, per the Buccaneers' press release, is the first wide receiver to win this honor in Tampa Bay's franchise history. He's also the first offensive rookie for the Bucs to win it in 10 years — the last time it happened in Tampa Bay was in 2015, when quarterback Jameis Winston won it for the month for his November.
The Buccaneers drafted Egbuka for the future, but they were also ready to slot him in right away as wideout Chris Godwin continued to rehab his injury.
He's done more than that, leading all rookies in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and yards per reception over the first four weeks of the season. He's also the only rookie in the NFL this year to score a touchdown in at least three of the NFL's four opening weeks.
Egbuka will join the Bucs as they play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. He'll be playing close to his hometown of Tacoma, Washington, so he'll look to put on a show in his homecoming game.
