Browns Insider Gives Stunning Outlook On Shedeur Sanders’ Future
The Cleveland Browns will remain with Dillon Gabriel as the team’s starting quarterback.
Gabriel is set to start his third straight game, while fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders remains the backup. Yet, the Browns’ offense has been struggling with Gabriel at the helm, so many fans have called for Sanders to start.
However, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot doesn’t think Sanders would have much success if he played. Instead, the insider believes Sanders would be in for a world of hurt if he starts.
“Question is, would Sanders fare any better? With so many issues on the unit, it would probably be just as tough sledding for him as it’s been for Gabriel, and as it was for Flacco. The one area where Sanders would have Gabriel beat is in accuracy,” Cabot wrote in a piece published on Wednesday.
“But with this offense struggling in almost every aspect — except perhaps the running game when the defense allows it — Sanders might be thrown to the wolves and set up for a world of hurt in his first few starts if he’s not ready…. But it’s turbulent cockpit right now for a Browns rookie quarterback, whether his name is Gabriel or Sanders,” Cabot added.
Cabot believes Sanders would likely get sacked quite often, as that was an issue for him in college. So, she believes the Browns are smart in not starting Sanders, as it wouldn’t be an improvement over Gabriel right now.
Browns’ Dillon Gabriel Learning From Every Start
Although Sanders won’t be starting games anytime soon, he is focused on helping Gabriel.
Gabriel, meanwhile, knows he has to be better than he was against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But the rookie quarterback says he has learned from every start and believes he will be better.
“Just, I think you continue to learn from each start,” Gabriel said. “Each time going in there there’s a lot of details that you want to fine tune and continue to get better at and get more comfortable with that. But, you know, margin for error is small as well. So, I think I knew that but continue to learn that and try to evolve to be better for this team.”
Although Gabriel is still learning on the job, he knows the offense has to get better, and that starts with him.
“There’s solutions that you want to find, to find a better outcome,” Gabriel said. “But like I said, it comes down to a couple plays that could be here or there. And I think you can look at third downs, we can be better at red area, running the football, being more efficient in the pass game. So, I think if you look at it through that, there’s a lot of areas we can be better.”
The Browns will host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Sanders Focused on Helping Gabriel
With Sanders remaining the backup, he has made his goal clear each week.
Sanders said he plans on making sure Gabriel is as prepared as possible so he and the offense can have success.
“We’re going to make sure we do everything we can to make sure Dillon is ready for the game,” Sanders said. “So each and every day, even when Joe (Flacco) was the starter, everything. Prepare the right way and be ready to know that you could get out there any point in time. So, I’m overly confident within myself. I know when I first got here, I’m ready to play. But it’s up to the coache. And whatever decision they make, then I’m fine with.”
Although Sanders wants to start, his focus is on being the best teammate possible.
Jalen Hurts Donates $2 Million to Young Boy Who Used His Last Birthday Money to Help Homeless Woman Selling Candy at Walmart

Chicago, IL – October 15, 2025 — In an extraordinary act of kindness, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has made a generous $2 million donation to 8-year-old Mateo, a young boy from Chicago who used his final $23 in birthday money to help a homeless woman selling candy at a local Walmart. Hurts, who has built a reputation for his philanthropic work off the field, was deeply moved by Mateo’s selflessness and decided to reward his compassionate act with a life-changing contribution.
Mateo, who celebrated his eighth birthday with excitement, was faced with a tough decision when he encountered a woman selling candy outside a Walmart store. The woman, struggling to make ends meet, had been standing on the corner for hours, hoping to sell enough candy to get by. When Mateo noticed the woman, he could tell she was in need, and without hesitation, he approached her and handed over his entire birthday gift of $23.
“I didn’t need the money,” Mateo said. “She looked like she really needed help, so I gave it to her. It made me feel good to help someone, and I knew it was the right thing to do.”
News of Mateo’s kind gesture quickly spread through social media and local news outlets, capturing the hearts of people around the world. Jalen Hurts, who has been involved in several charitable endeavors throughout his career, was particularly moved by the story. “When I heard about what Mateo did, I couldn’t believe it. For an 8-year-old to give up everything he had to help someone else – that’s the kind of heart we need more of in this world,” Hurts said in a statement.
Inspired by Mateo’s generosity, Hurts reached out to the young boy and his family, offering a donation of $2 million. The money will go into a fund to help Mateo’s education, as well as support local charities that assist the homeless. “Mateo’s selflessness really touched me, and I wanted to do something to help him and make sure he continues to grow up with a heart full of compassion,” Hurts added.
The donation will provide Mateo with access to better educational opportunities, as well as financial support to ensure he can continue helping those in need. Mateo’s mother expressed her gratitude for Hurts’s gesture, saying, “We’re so thankful for Jalen’s kindness. This will help Mateo achieve his dreams and continue to be the kind-hearted boy that he is.”
For Mateo, the $2 million donation is not just about the financial help—it’s a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound impact on others. “I’m really happy that I helped someone, and now Jalen is helping me,” Mateo said with a smile. “I just want to keep helping people when I can.”
As for Hurts, the donation is another testament to his dedication to making the world a better place. “We all have the power to do good in this world, and Mateo is a great example of that,” Hurts said. “I hope his story inspires others to act with kindness and compassion, just like he did.”
Mateo’s story has inspired countless others to give back and has proven that no act of kindness is ever too small to make a big difference.
