Browns fan Steve Harvey makes controversial remarks about the starting QB position - backs Sanders as the long-term solution
Family Feud host and Cleveland Browns fan Steve Harvey believes the team needs to see what they have in Shedeur Sanders.
Harvey is a passionate Browns fan who isn’t afraid to speak his mind on the team. It hasn’t been a kind few years for Cleveland, and Harvey believes the team should turn to Sanders soon to give the fans some hope.
Harvey believes Sanders has the potential to be a franchise quarterback. But he expects Cleveland to eventually trade him and move on from him.
“I’ve watched us not win nothing since 1964. So, you are going to sit here and ask me about a damn quarterback. Joe Flacco is gonna play a few games and his old ass is gonna get hurt,” Harvey
“Now we gonna watch this Gabriel boy and panic his ass off because he is gonna get thrown in there with the wolves, because the real wolves come during the season… Now, I am praying to God that Shedeur gets an opportunity to show what he really can do. And I think that would probably be the best thing. But knowing the Cleveland Browns, their dumbass is gonna trade him,” Harvey added.
Harvey doesn’t expect Gabriel to be the answer, but he believes Cleveland will turn to him instead of Sanders.
Sanders has been inactive through two weeks, so it seems unlikely he will be starting games anytime soon, as Harvey wants.
Sanders Gets Good News as Potential Browns Starting QB
Although Sanders has been inactive through two weeks, he could get into games down the stretch.
Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot said on the ‘Orange and Brown Talk Podcast’ that it’s likely both Gabriel and Sanders will play and start games this season.
“I think the reason why we’re asking the question is because in a game like this, Joe turned the ball over twice. He had a horrible interception this game. But I do think the more that I think about this right now, they’re heading into a very grueling stretch,”
Cleveland will need to see what they have with the rookie quarterbacks. Which is why she expects Sanders to play some games this season.
Sanders Wanted to be Picked by Cleveland
Entering the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders had hoped to be a first-round pick.
However, he slid to the fifth round when the Browns took him.
Yet, ahead of Cleveland’s Week 2 game against the Baltimore Ravens,
“My response is I’m focused on the now,”
“You wouldn’t even believe, my memory doesn’t go back that far. I don’t even remember anything post-draft. I just remember I’m here, I go to practice every day, and it’s a 24-hour rule. … It serves no purpose in my life,” Sanders added.
Sanders ended up being picked 144th overall by Cleveland.
Chip Kelly SLAMS Criticism of Tom Brady's Role with Raiders: 'This Isn’t About Who’s in the Booth, It’s About the Guys on the Field'

In a passionate defense of his team and their focus ahead of the upcoming game, Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly responded to mounting criticism regarding Tom Brady's involvement with the team. As the controversy surrounding Brady's dual roles as a minority owner and a broadcaster continues to stir debate, Kelly made it clear that distractions won’t take away from the task at hand for the Raiders.
"We’re not going to let rumors or external noise distract us," Kelly said. "Tom Brady has been nothing but professional, and his role with the Raiders is clear. We’ve got a team to focus on, and that’s what we’re doing. This isn’t about who’s in the booth; it’s about the guys on the field."
Kelly’s response comes after Brady was spotted in the Raiders' coaches' booth during the team's Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Brady, who is a minority owner of the Raiders and serves as an NFL analyst for Fox Sports, sparked controversy when some questioned whether his presence in the booth signified a greater involvement in the team’s game planning. This raised concerns about the potential conflict of interest and whether Brady’s dual role was crossing the line.
However, Kelly firmly rejected the notion that Brady’s presence was affecting the Raiders' focus or their preparation for their opponents. According to Kelly, Brady’s involvement in the booth was purely observational, as he is part of the team’s ownership and has a vested interest in its success, but not in making game-time decisions.
"Look, people will always have something to say. Tom Brady’s involvement in the booth doesn’t change what we’re doing here," Kelly continued. "We’re focusing on the game plan and getting better every week. It’s as simple as that."
Kelly's words emphasize the importance of concentrating on the task at hand — the players on the field. While Brady’s presence in the coaches' booth has certainly raised eyebrows, Kelly made it clear that the coaching staff and players are not letting these distractions interfere with their efforts to improve and win games.
The Raiders' season is still in its early stages, and they currently stand at a 1-1 record. With the team facing crucial matchups in the coming weeks, including a pivotal game against the Washington Commanders, Kelly’s message reflects the team's focus on execution and improvement, rather than any external noise.
Brady, who is already well-regarded for his football IQ and leadership, has been an integral part of the Raiders’ ownership group since his investment in the team. His insights, however, remain separate from the day-to-day operations and coaching decisions on the field. Despite the drama surrounding his dual roles, the Raiders are intent on ensuring that their focus remains on the players executing the game plan.
As the controversy continues to swirl, Kelly's message resonates as a reminder to the team and fans that football is about what happens on the field — not what happens in the booth.
