Broncos Urged to Trade for $56 Million All-Pro to Help Bo Nix
The Denver Broncos could be a team to watch at the 2025 NFL trade deadline, and there is some thought that an outside-the-box move for a playmaker like Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews would be wise.
Andrews is a three-time Pro Bowler and was a First Team All-Pro in 2021.
He would be a surprising target for the Broncos, but one with postseason experience who could elevate their offensive ceiling.
Broncos Trade Pitch Lands Ravens TE Mark Andrews
CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell suggested the Broncos trade for Andrews to help Bo Nix through an “up and down Year 2.” Andrews is on a four-year, $56 million contract. He has a $16.9 million cap hit for the 2025 season.
This Heavy Sports trade proposal aims to make that happen.
Broncos get:
- Mark Andrews
Ravens get:
- 2026 fourth-round pick
“Denver trading for three-time Pro Bowl tight end Mark Andrews, who is 30-years-old and a pending free agent, could make plenty of sense,” Podell wrote on October 15. “The AFC West feels as up for grabs as it has been in years with the nine-time defending division champion Chiefs off to a 3-3 start. Denver should pounce and bolster Nix’s arsenal of playmakers with Andrews, a player who had a career-high 11 receiving touchdowns just last season.
“The Ravens, who are off to a 1-5 start thanks to a horrific defense and Jackson sidelined by injury, have already begun to tear it down, trading former first-round pick edge rusher Odafe Oweh to the Chargers. They shouldn’t have an issue trading Andrews to Denver.”
The Broncos have $5.8 million in cap space, per Over The Cap. They would need to create more space or up their offer to the Ravens to have them eat some of the cost.
Broncos Must Utilize Evan Engram More
Broncos head coach Sean Payton piqued interest about the team’s plans for the trade deadline, which is on November 4 at 4 p.m. ET.
“We would always pay attention to what we might be looking for,” Payton told reporters after the Broncos defeated the New York Jets on October 12. “I think we have time to do that. But I’m not thinking about that right now.”
However, the Broncos could address other needs after signing Evan Engram in free agency.
Engram has so far gone underutilized due to a combination of play calling and injuries. He has Nix’s support for a larger role, though.

“It’s really good for our offense [when Engram is involved], as you can see,” Nix told reporters on October 12. “I thought today, really in the first half, we tried to get him the ball, and that’s what happens when you try to get him the ball. He makes those big plays. That’s why we acquired him. That’s what we felt confident that he could bring to our team. And then again, in the fourth, when we needed it, he was the one that made the catch.
“He had the hot hand today. He, I think, carried over from last week. He’s playing really good, he feels good, he’s out there um winning matchups. He’s just a tough matchup for safeties and linebackers.”
Broncos Have Options at TE
Engram, who signed a two-year, $23 million contract in free agency, had a season-high five receptions and 42 yards in Week 6, and he scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 5.
He may be on the verge of a breakout.
Andrews, the No. 86 overall pick in the 2018 draft by the Ravens, has had at least 45 receptions, 544 yards, and five touchdowns in every season since his rookie year. The Broncos could give Nix a dynamic pair of weapons at tight end.

The Broncos leaned on Adam Trautman (7-58-1) and Nate Adkins (4-28-1) in a rotation, with Engram second among the group in snap share, per Pro Football Reference.
Lucas Krull (2-15-0) is also around. So, the Broncos have several options at the trade deadline.
