BREAKING NEWS: DeVonta Smith's Stunning Act of Loyalty Rocks Philadelphia
In an unexpected and deeply emotional turn, Philadelphia Eagles star DeVonta Smith has left the city’s football world in awe. The wide receiver, who has been one of the pillars of the Eagles’ offensive success, stunned the organization by offering to take a pay cut just to stay with the team.

The Trade Rumor That Shook The Eagles' Locker Room
It all started with whispers — rumors that DeVonta Smith could be on the move. While no one inside the Eagles' organization wanted to believe it, the gossip quickly gained traction. Players, coaches, and fans all wondered: Could this be the end of Smith’s time in Philadelphia?
Known for his unwavering professionalism, Smith didn’t resort to social media drama or evasive tactics. Instead, he chose the direct approach, walking into the team office to face the situation head-on. What transpired behind closed doors would go down as one of the most unforgettable moments in Eagles’ history.
The Moment That Will Go Down in Eagles Lore
With the future of his career hanging in the balance, DeVonta Smith walked into Howie Roseman’s office. Instead of demanding a better deal or expressing frustration, Smith simply said, "If keeping me means taking less, I’ll take a pay cut. I want to stay in Philadelphia."
In a world where athletes are often driven by money, the humility and loyalty in Smith’s words left everyone in the room stunned. His offer wasn’t born of desperation, but out of a deep, raw connection to the city and its team.
Howie Roseman’s Groundbreaking Response
Howie Roseman, the Eagles’ mastermind and general manager, had a choice to make — one that would impact the future of the franchise. Without hesitation, Roseman responded with words that would reverberate throughout the league:
“You don’t have to take a dime off. We’re not trading you — we’re building a team around you.”
For Smith, this response wasn’t just a promise of a contract. It was a testament to his place in Philadelphia’s long and storied history.
Inside the Locker Room: A Moment of Brotherhood
When DeVonta Smith returned to the locker room, his teammates instantly knew something monumental had taken place. Quietly, he told them, "I’m staying."
In an instant, the locker room erupted. Teammates embraced him, celebrated his decision, and chanted his nickname, “Smitty!” The moment was nothing short of electric.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, a close friend and long-time supporter of Smith, reportedly hugged him and whispered, “I told you — you’re home.”
Why This Moment Means So Much to Philadelphia
Philadelphia is known for its passionate and demanding fanbase. In a city where athletes are judged not only by their on-field performance but also by their heart, loyalty, and fight, DeVonta Smith’s decision to stay wasn’t just about football. It was about embodying what it means to be an Eagle.
In a time when so many athletes chase bigger contracts and easier paths, Smith chose something far more valuable: family, loyalty, and the pride of wearing midnight green.
A New Chapter for the Eagles’ Dynasty
The message from Howie Roseman was crystal clear: DeVonta Smith is not just a part of the Eagles’ future — he is the future. With this act of loyalty, the Eagles have not only secured a foundational player but also solidified their identity as a team built on unity and trust.
For Smith, it’s not just about playing for a paycheck. It’s about the legacy of this franchise and his place in it. His decision marks the beginning of a new era for the Eagles — one where loyalty and culture trump all else.
The Fans React: A City United
The moment news of Smith’s decision broke, Eagles fans flooded social media with praise and admiration. Messages like, “This is why we love Smitty,” and “He gets what it means to wear midnight green,” flooded timelines across the city.
This wasn’t just about keeping a star player. It was about healing, trust, and the kind of loyalty that Philly fans hold dear.
The Legacy of Loyalty: A Foundation for the Future
With DeVonta Smith’s commitment to stay in Philadelphia, the Eagles have not just secured a wide receiver. They have secured a leader, a symbol of everything the franchise stands for. In a world full of business deals and ruthless decisions, Smith’s sacrifice and Howie Roseman’s faith in him serve as a reminder of what truly matters in sports: loyalty, unity, and a shared belief in greatness.
The Eagles’ future looks brighter than ever — and it’s built on the heart and soul of a man who chose family over fortune.
Stephen A. Smith apologizes to Patriots QB Drake Maye after calling him a "liar"

Earlier this week, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith made headlines for something he said about New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.

This random feud started with former MVP quarterback Cam Newton saying the Patriots are "fool's gold" despite their 9-2 record. Maye, who appears on WEEI-FM every week during the NFL season, was asked about Newton's comments. The talented quarterback from North Carolina admit that he's not familiar with "First Take" or any other major sports shows.
“I don’t even know what show he’s on,” Maye said. “I think they get paid to make remarks and make certain comments. So, I just worry about what people in our organization think, and worry about we think and what my teammates think. People are going to have different opinions. I’m just going out there on Sunday and worrying about ourselves.”
Apparently, Smith felt the need to respond to Maye's remarks.
“He’s a liar,” Smith said. “First Take is the number one morning show 13 years and counting. Don’t tell me you a athlete and you don’t know that. Don’t tell me you a athlete and you don’t know that Cam Newton is on this show. You lying.”
As you'd imagine, Patriots fans ripped Smith for his behavior. They thought he was out of line for calling Maye a "liar" on national television.
Stephen A. Smith issues an apology.
While on Mad Dog Sports Radio this Friday, Smith walked back his comments about Maye. He also said he's willing to apologize to the second-year quarterback.
“I was being facetious because it wasn’t that big of a deal,” Smith said, via Awful Announcing. “In other words, Cam Newton is on national television. And your reaction was, ‘I don’t even know where he works.’ I just didn’t believe that. That’s all. I wasn’t calling him a liar about anything else. Just that he didn’t know where Cam works. But you are right, I don’t know Drake Maye, I’ve never spoken to him. Again, I was being facetious; I wasn’t being serious about that point. So, if people take it that way, sure, I can apologize for that, it’s no big deal. But I wasn’t being serious.”
We're not sure if Maye is even aware of Smith's latest comments. To be fair, he's getting ready to face the Cincinnati Bengals.
