Bills Tackle Dion Dawkins Makes Heartfelt Admission About QB Josh Allen
The Buffalo Bills have a lot of things going right for them, even though they just suffered a surprising 23-20 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots in Week 5. Despite that defeat, the Bills are still believed to be one of the best teams in the league, and they will look to prove just that by getting back in the win column in Week 6.
For much of his tenure, superstar quarterback Josh Allen has been a big reason for Buffalo’s success. However, he can’t do it alone, and he benefits from having a great offensive line working in front of him. Anchoring the left tackle position is Dion Dawkins, and he recently revealed what makes him so good at protecting Allen under center.
Dion Dawkins’ Heartfelt Josh Allen Message
The Bills selected Dawkins in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the hope that he could become their left tackle of the future. In his ninth season, Dawkins has started all but six of the 133 games he’s suited up for, so it’s safe to say that he has managed to reach those lofty expectations for Buffalo.
In the past four seasons, though, Dawkins has taken his play to another level. He’s turned himself into one of the top players in the league at his position, earning four straight Pro Bowl selections during that stretch. Dawkins has once again held up well through five games this season, as he rarely lets anyone get close to Allen.
Dawkins’ uptick in production may seem random, but the man himself recently revealed that there is one big reason for his strong play over the past couple of seasons. Simply put, he cares so much about Allen that he doesn’t want anyone to hit him, and considering how well he’s played since the 2021 season, it’s safe to say that mentality is doing wonders for him.
“Realistically, I care about Josh. I care about the kid too much,” Dawkins said on Friday. “With being here for the distance that I’ve been here and the duration that I’ve been here, I don’t want to be the reason to alter that kid’s journey, because the kid is great, and I’m his left tackle. So, I want to be the best version for Josh that I can possibly be.”
Bills Looking to Get Back on Track in Week 6

The peace of mind that Allen has had under center, knowing that Dawkins is protecting his blindside, has done him wonders. Last season, Allen won the first MVP Award of his career, and he also has enjoyed a strong start to the new season, throwing for 1,217 yards and nine touchdowns, while also rushing for 212 yards and another three scores.
At this point, the last thing Allen needs to accomplish in his career is to go out and win a Super Bowl. To this point, he hasn’t had much success in the postseason, and while winning in the regular season is nice, it’s clear it’s Super Bowl or bust for the Bills this season. Buffalo will look to get back in the win column in Week 6 when it squares off against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.
