Bill Simmons floats Derrick Henry trade for Patriots
The New England Patriots are looking great at the start of the Mike Vrabel era. New England is 4-2 after defeating New Orleans in Week 6. That means the Patriots has already matched their win total from last season and it is still October. Perhaps the Patriots should keep the pressure on by making a splashy trade.
Bill Simmons floated the idea of the Patriots trading for Ravens running back Derrick Henry on Monday.
Simmons discussed the idea with his guest, Cousin Sal, who believes that Baltimore should be open to trading the superstar running back. Especially after some of their recent struggles after starting the season 1-5.
Simmons suggested that the Patriots offer Rhamondre Stevenson and a second-round pick for Henry.
“What pick would get their attention? Like our second? What if our second and Rhamondre? They got to take Rhomandre, well they need a running back,” Simmons said on Monday via The Bill Simmons Podcast. “You know who used to work together? Derrick Henry and Mike Vrabel. Yeah they used to have a really great relationship once upon a time.”
A Vrabel and Henry reunion would be something to see in New England.
But could it really happen?
Should the Patriots actually try to acquire a player like Derrick Henry?
It is fascinating to consider the possibility of Derrick Henry joining the Patriots.
A power running back is one of the team’s biggest needs on offense, at least for the rest of this season.
Rhamondre Stevenson has seemingly fallen out of favor in New England. He had his worst game of the season in Week 6 against the Saints, turning 13 carries into just 18 yards against a terrible defense. In fact, Stevenson only has 157 rushing yards despite playing in six games.
Adding a veteran superstar like Henry would completely change how defenses play against New England. It would also be nice to see Henry rescued from a sinking ship in Baltimore.
But could this really happen?
It is unlikely that the Ravens would throw in the towel on their season just yet. However, if they continue to lose games, they could become more amenable to a trade.
Patriots fans should not get their hopes up about an impending trade for King Henry. But it could be a possibility to look out for at the NFL trade deadline in early November.
Next up for the Patriots is a Week 7 matchup against the Titans.
Steelers’ $150M Man Gets Rodgers’ Stamp of Approval

After a big win in the season opener against the Jets, Aaron Rodgers and company prepare to take on DK Metcalf's former team in Week 2.
Aaron Rodgers led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a win over the New York Jets in the season opener. The four-time MVP tossed four touchdown passes against his former team in Week 1. DK Metcalf is next up on the revenge game tour as Pittsburgh prepares to take on the Seattle Seahawks Sunday. And Rodgers offered serious praise for the veteran wideout.
“He’s about the right stuff. He cares about it enough to watch the film and put in the time and take notes and ask questions and come over and sit next to me during the week at various times to try and get on the same page… that’s unfortunately not the standard around the league,” Rogers said, per ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
Aaron Rodgers praises DK Metcalf after Week 1 win
Metcalf’s approach reminds the 41-year-old passer of the receivers he worked with while a member of the Green Bay Packers.
“That was [the standard] a lot of times in Green Bay, because those guys kinda saw what it was like with Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb and James Jones. And Davante got to watch that and he was the next guy in line… When you’re lead dog in the room, he’s also a great guy and prepares the right way, it makes it easy for the rest of the room to just follow his lead,” Rodgers added.
Metcalf was a big reason why Rodgers signed with the Steelers. Pittsburgh landed the wideout in a trade with the Seahawks in March and then signed him to a $150 million extension. The seventh-year pro is Rodgers’ clear cut WR1. However, he wasn’t invited to the touchdown party in Week 1.
Metcalf finished the game with four receptions for 83 yards. But he didn’t catch any of Rodgers’ four touchdown passes in the opener. The 21st-year passer became the first Steelers’ QB to throw for four scores
The Jets’ strong secondary held Metcalf mostly in check during their Week 1 matchup. But the wideout would likely prefer to snag his first TD of 2025 against his former team in Week 2. s
