The Seattle Seahawks didn’t make a splash trade on deadline day, but they did make a reasonably significant move by acquiring wide receiver and kick/punt return specialist Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints. As if this league-leading explosive passing attack didn’t have enough firepower, Shaheed adds another speed and downfield threat element while also providing value on special teams. He’ll also get to reunite with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, with whom he only had a few games with before a season-ending meniscus injury.
Aaron Glenn Just Sent a Message Every Jets Fan Needs to Hear
The New York Jets sit at 2–9 heading into Week 13. If the NFL season ended today, the Jets would hold the third overall pick in the draft, behind only the New York Giants (2–10) and the Tennessee Titans (1–10). With a good chance at a top pick, there are fans hoping the Jets finish the season near the top of the draft board, which would mean not winning many games.

Head Coach Aaron Glenn, however, remains focused solely on winning.
“You play the game to win. It’s not in a coach’s or player’s mentality to go out and lose games. We’re not built that way. Any time we step on the grass, we’re trying to improve,” said Glenn on Wednesday, November 26th (SNYJets on X).
The Jets, who have been more competitive than what their record suggests, with more than half of their losses being by one possession, will have a legitimate opportunity to snag some late-season victories, considering what their remaining schedule looks like.

Sneak Peek at Upcoming Games
In order, New York will play the Atlanta Falcons (4-7), Miami Dolphins (4-7), Jacksonville Jaguars (7-4), New Orleans Saints (2-9), New England Patriots (10-2), and Buffalo Bills (7-4).
There is no reason the Jets cannot pile up a few more wins before the end of the season, especially against teams like the Falcons, Dolphins, and Saints. There is no doubt that Glenn will have his team playing hard, no matter where the Jets’ record stands.
Looking ahead to their next matchup, the Jets will take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 30th at MetLife Stadium. The matchup is expected to be competitive with New York currently predicted as a 2.5-point underdog, per ESPN Bet odds.
It is important to note that Atlanta will roll out their backup quarterback Kirk Cousins in New York, as starting quarterback Michael Penix is injured. The Falcons will also likely be without their top passing target in wide receiver Drake London.
“According to head coach Raheem Morris, the Falcons are trending in a direction that may not include Drake London for the second consecutive week,” wrote Tori McElhaney, Atlanta Falcons’ Senior Reporter.

Jets Can Still Land a Top Pick, Even if They Win Games
The Jets are rich in draft capital compared to other teams across the league. New York holds two first-round picks and two second-round picks in the 2026 Draft, while also having three first-round picks in the 2027 Draft.
Hypothetically, if the Jets play their way out of a top pick but fall in love with a quarterback in this year’s draft, the team has plenty of draft capital to make a trade, move up to the top of the draft, and get their guy.
If the Jets win games in the final stretch of the season, Glenn will continue to make progress in building a winning culture in New York. With the realistic ability to trade up in the draft, winning games does not necessarily mean they will miss out on the top prospect they want to join the green and white next season.

Seahawks Trade for Rashid Shaheed, But It Could Cost Them Their Future—2026 Draft Capital Drained

Party like it’s 2021, because the Seahawks currently have a light cupboard for draft picks in 2026.

Seattle gave up its 2025 fourth- and fifth-rounders to land Shaheed, whose contract is expiring this year but there is always the possibility that the Seahawks look at giving him a new contract instead of losing two picks for a half-season rental. Regardless of what happens to Shaheed beyond 2025, the Seahawks’ 2026 NFL Draft situation is now reminiscent of the ill-fated 2021 draft. There’s been a 33 percent reduction in available draft selections for the Seahawks heading into next year, and they’ve only got three of their original picks at their disposal.
Seattle Seahawks 2026 NFL Draft picks
Round 1: 1 pick (native)
Round 2: 1 pick (native)
Round 3: 1 pick (native)
Round 6: 1 pick (via Cleveland Browns through the Nick Harris trade back in 2024)
Total: 4 picks
Where did the other Seahawks draft picks go?
- Round 4 and Round 5 picks went to the New Orleans Saints for Rashid Shaheed.
- Round 6 (native) was sent to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Roy Robertson-Harris.
- Round 7 (native) was sent to the Cleveland Browns in the Nick Harris trade.
Will the Seahawks have any compensatory picks in 2026?
No. They brought in more compensatory free agents than they lost.
If you recall, the Seahawks entered and exited the 2021 draft with only three picks, none of whom is with Seattle anymore. Supposedly 2026 is considered a weaker draft class coming up, so perhaps that’s why we saw more activity than usual across the NFL regarding trades and 2026 picks given up.
Of course, a key difference between 2021 and now is that the Seahawks still have their first-round pick. Should there be a replenishing of the draft capital, it’ll have to happen in the offseason via trade. If the Seahawks by any chance win the Super Bowl, I suspect it won’t be top of mind for the fanbase.
