Vikings' Carson Wentz SHOCKINGLY SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT on Jordan Addison & Justin Jefferson, Revealing Unbelievable Insights
The Minnesota Vikings escaped Week 5 with a 21-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, thanks largely to the triumvirate of quarterback Carson Wentz and wide receivers Jordan Addison and Justin Jefferson, and the former suggested the latter two are closer than some might think at first blush.
Jefferson outproduced Addison in terms of yards during the game. However, Addison made the most of his looks. Specifically, he put points on the board for the Vikings. Jefferson did not.
Not just any points, either. Addison scored what was effectively the game-winning TD.
Carson Wentz Sets Record Straight About Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson
Addison logged 41 receiving yards on five receptions in the game, none bigger than his score to put the Vikings ahead by the final margin.
The play left 25 seconds on the clock, in which the Browns were unable to score.
“First of all, he’s a stud,” Wentz told reporters on October 5. “Justin Jefferson is as good as it gets and gets all the recognition, but Jordan Addison has been nothing but a baller since I’ve seen him live these last couple weeks.”
Addison returned from a three-game suspension in Week 4, posting a 4-114-1 line, but he was benched for the first quarter in Week 5.
He was still able to step in and step up when the Vikings needed it.
Jordan Addison Producing at Right Time
Addison hitting the ground running is surprising, given that he had not worked with Wentz before returning to practice, with the veteran QB taking over for J.J. McCarthy after Week 2. Their quick connection is good news for the Vikings, and even better for Addison.
Addison will be extension-eligible after this season.
Over his first two-plus seasons, not including Sunday’s contest, Addison has recorded a 137-1,900-19 line.
His off-field troubles complicate matters. Issues like missing walkthroughs, which cost him the opening frame against the Browns, do not help, either. Still, Addison’s production has been undeniable, and the Vikings will have to make a significant financial decision at some point.
Jordan Addison Praised for ‘Classic’ Performance
In addition to the Vikings’ disciplinary actions, Addison received a talking to from Jefferson, who had seven receptions for 123 yards.
Still, many fans on social media reveled in the fact that Addison was able to perform as he did.
“Jordan Addison being benched in the 1st Quarter because of a missed walkthrough, only to catch the game-winning touchdown in the 4th Quarter, is absolutely classic Jordan Addison,” Vikings Territory’s Dustin Baker posted on X on October 5.
“So proud of Jordan Addison, man. Could have sulked after his one quarter suspension and was covered by Denzel Ward all day. But no factor,” Purple FTW! posted on X.
“Goes out and makes the game winning play.”
Up next for Addison, Wentz, and the Vikings, following a bye in Week 6, is a home game against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. They lost to the Denver Broncos in Week 5. It will be another opportunity for Addison to make his mark for the Vikings.
Commanders' rookie goes from under the radar to undeniable as hype explodes

The Washington Commanders took a chance on running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt at No. 245 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. To say he's repaid this faith so far would be a massive understatement.
It's been a meteoric rise for Croskey-Merritt. He's gone from a Day 3 afterthought to a prominent feature in Washington's offensive strategy. And the hype reached a new level thanks to a blistering performance early in Week 5 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Commanders were getting Croskey-Merritt involved a lot more. It took a while for the offense to click, but a forced fumble from safety Quan Martin that was recovered by cornerback Marshon Lattimore gave them an unlikely chance when hope was fading.
Commanders rookie Jacory Croskey-Merrit is proving he belongs
Washington put together a masterful drive. It was well-balanced, fluid, and aggressive. And unsurprisingly, it featured a heavy dose of the seventh-round rookie.
The decisiveness with which Croskey-Merritt runs the football is nothing short of outstanding. He's a firecracker out of the backfield, exploiting seams for significant gains with smooth contact balance. He's also got enough speed to bend around the edge, as evidenced by his touchdown run that got Washington back into the contest.

Croskey-Merritt has proven he belongs. He's proven capable of handling big-time responsibilities for an offense in desperate need of inspiration. More importantly, he's taking absolutely nothing for granted after overcoming genuine adversity to reach this point.
The first-year pro arguably has more buzz around him than any seventh-round pick since Brock Purdy, who was also drafted by a team where Adam Peters held influence in the front office. Croskey-Merritt appears to be an absolute steal, transforming his narrative through a supreme work ethic and seizing every moment. And the best part? He's just getting started.
Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is gradually increasing Croskey-Merritt's workload. But we're getting to the point where he must be unleashed as a focal point of Washington's ground attack.
