Steelers Linked to Trade for Rashid Shaheed After Explosive 114-Yard Game
- The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for an upgrade to their wide receiver corps
- They are rumored to have called the New Orleans Saints to gauge their interest in trading Rashid Shaheed
- Shaheed is coming off of a game where he made four catches for 114-yards and a touchdown
The Pittsburgh Steelers were active in the trade market this past offseason.
They were part of three of the NFL’s biggest trades following the 2024 season.
First they traded away George Pickens. Then they dealt a second-round pick to replace him with DK Metcalf. Finally they rounded things out by trading Minkah Fitzpatrick and a fifth-rounder to get Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.
Now the NFL’s trade market is starting to heat up with less than a month until this year’s trade deadline.
With the Steelers currently leading their division and looking like they have their best chance in years to end a lengthy stretch without a playoff win, they should be one of the teams actively pursuing a trade in the coming weeks.
It seems they may be getting an early start on trying to fix one of their biggest weaknesses.
According to 93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Filliponi, the Steelers reached out to the New Orleans Saints to gauge their interest in potentially trading
After going undrafted in 2022, Shaheed signed with the Saints. In his second year with the team, he had a breakout campaign, making 46 catches for 719 yards and five touchdowns while also earning himself All-Pro honors on special teams.
He was expected to have even bigger things ahead in 2024 and got off to a solid start. In the first six games of the season, Shaheed made 20 catches for 349 yards and three TDs, but his season was cut short by an injury.
Shaheed is currently coming off of a very strong performance. This past weekend he brought in four catches for 114 yards, including an 87-yard touchdown. That brought his totals for the year up to 22 catches for 288 yards and a pair of TDs.
Shaheed would certainly make the Steelers’ offense more dangerous with his ability as a big-play threat. However, there are probably better fits out there, including one on his own team in Chris Olave.
The Steelers’ need for somebody they can depend on to win in the shorter and intermediate areas with their route running isn’t anything new. It’s why they were like to Brandon Aiyuk for months last year.
Trading for Shaheed wouldn’t give them that.
With a career average of 15.9 yards per catch and n average depth of target of 14.1 yards, he’s at his best in similar areas to Metcalf. The Steelers’ WR1 averaged 14.4 yards per catch and had an ADOT of 12.7 yards with the Seahawks.
His ADOT has come way down to just 6.4 yards with the Steelers. A more technical option could get Metcalf back to doing damage with deeper routes.
If Shaheed ends up as the best option actually available for trade, then he’d be worth a look for the Steelers. They really need to upgrade at WR2 if they’re going to compete with the top of the league.
There could just be some better options out there for them who are worth looking at first.
PATRICK MAHOMES & BEARS HC WARNING: Jayden Daniels - The Beast on the Field, No Control, No Victory!

In a striking warning ahead of the upcoming matchup, Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has made it clear: Jayden Daniels is a force to be reckoned with. The quarterback, known for his electrifying play and game-changing abilities, is being hailed as a "beast" on the field. With the Bears set to face off against the Washington Commanders, Johnson stressed that containing Daniels is crucial — or risk seeing their game plan go up in smoke.
"Jayden Daniels is a monster on the field, and if we let him do whatever he wants, we'll pay the price. He's not just a quarterback who can run, he's someone who can change the game in an instant. We have to control him at all costs, or our entire strategy will collapse."
These words from Coach Johnson have caught the attention of NFL fans and analysts alike. Daniels, who has already impressed this season with his dual-threat capability, can not only make pinpoint throws but also escape the pocket with ease, making him one of the most dangerous quarterbacks to face.
For the Bears, this is a high-stakes moment. They've been working hard to build a disciplined defense that can handle the likes of Daniels, but they know that a single mistake could be the difference between victory and defeat. Johnson's comments underscore the critical importance of defense against mobile quarterbacks like Daniels, who can turn the tide of any game with just one play.
Daniels’ ability to make something out of nothing, particularly on broken plays, makes him unpredictable and incredibly tough to defend against. The Bears will need to deploy their most disciplined, well-executed game plan if they hope to keep Daniels from taking control of the game. The last thing Chicago wants is to give Daniels any leeway to improvise and show off his skills, as the quarterback thrives in high-pressure situations.
With the Bears' defense gearing up for this battle, Johnson's message to his team is simple: stay focused, stay disciplined, and contain Daniels. The Bears know the stakes — with every game mattering in the race for the playoffs, they cannot afford to let this "beast" roam free on the field.
This showdown between the Bears and the Commanders will likely be a game filled with high drama, as both teams are eyeing crucial wins. Will Chicago’s defense live up to the challenge, or will Jayden Daniels once again prove why he’s one of the most electrifying players in the league? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain — the Bears are ready to give it their all to prevent Daniels from wreaking havoc.
