Steelers’ Injury Report: Joey Porter Jr. and Key Players Miss Practice Ahead of Seahawks Game
PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. did not practice with a hamstring injury on Wednesday. Head coach Mike Tomlin did seem optimistic that Porter would end up playing, but starting the week off on the wrong foot is not the start to the week they wanted.
If Porter could not play, it would be cornerback Brandin Echols who will suit up instead. Echols had to play for Porter during the rest of the game after the team held Porter out as a precaution. During those snaps, Echols played outside cornerback.
In addition to Porter, outside linebacker Nick Herbig is battling a hamstring injury, but was limited for the fourth straight practice. He seems on track to play this week.
Herbig suffered a hamstring strain in the team’s second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He missed Week 1, but was limited in practice for three straight days, signaling that he is likely to play.
Meanwhile, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson missed practice with an illness, but it does not seem like that will be a cause for concern and he should be able to play against the Seahawks.
Safety DeShon Elliott and defensive lineman Derrick Harmon were already ruled out against the Seahawks with knee injuries.
