SAD NEWS: Raiders owner Carol Davis has died at age 93
LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Raiders were rocked by the passing of Carol Davis, the beloved part-owner of the franchise and wife of the late Al Davis, who passed away on Friday at the age of 93. Known as the "First Lady of Raider Nation," Carol Davis’ legacy is firmly intertwined with the identity and greatness of the Raiders organization.

Carol Davis was an unwavering force within the Raiders, having provided guidance and support to the team for over six decades. Her impact on the franchise, both in terms of leadership and commitment, is immeasurable, as she helped shape the Raiders into the iconic, historic team they are today. Even after the death of her husband Al Davis in 2011, Carol continued to be an essential part of the team, ensuring that the Davis family legacy remained strong in the organization.
Her contributions were immeasurable: she was instrumental in presenting a record nine players into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including her most recent induction in 2021 of former Raiders head coach Tom Flores. Her stewardship of the Raiders during such turbulent times, coupled with her pivotal role in organizing the team’s greatest moments, has cemented her place as a cornerstone of the franchise's rich history.
In the wake of Carol’s passing, Maxx Crosby, one of the team’s standout defensive players, shared an emotional tribute to the First Lady of Raider Nation. Crosby, who embodies the fierce spirit of the team, praised Carol’s profound influence on the Raiders and acknowledged her integral role in shaping the culture of the franchise.
"The Raiders have lost a true icon, and we’ve all lost someone who was not just a part of the team, but the heart and soul of the Raider Nation,"
The Raiders, currently on their bye week, paid their respects in a significant way on Sunday when Mark Davis, Carol’s son and the current owner of the team, lit the Al Davis Memorial Torch at Allegiant Stadium in her honor. The act was a symbolic tribute to the woman who played such an integral role in the team’s success, keeping the Raiders’ legacy alive and vibrant even after the passing of her husband.
Carol Davis’ passing marks the end of an era for the Raiders. While she may no longer be with us, her contributions will continue to resonate in the heart of Raider Nation, with every game, every victory, and every moment of greatness carrying the imprint of her tireless dedication.
As the Raiders move forward, they will do so with a deep sense of gratitude for Carol Davis’ years of support, leadership, and love for the team. Raider Nation, and the NFL as a whole, have lost a beloved figure, but her memory will forever remain a guiding light for the franchise she helped shape into one of the most storied in sports history.
Eagles Left Stunned After Gruesome Injury to Giants RB Cam Skattebo

If you want to know exactly how bad the injury suffered by New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles was, simply take into account the reaction from Eagles fans at Lincoln Financial Field.

As Skattebo was carted off the field after a gruesome lower leg injury, Eagles fans gave him a standing ovation. That’s how bad.
The same fans who threw snowballs at Santa Claus and the same. The same fans who cheered when Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin suffered a career ending neck injury in Philadelphia in 1999. That’s how bad Skattebo’s injury was.
Skattebo was hurt with the Giants trailing 14-7 in the second quarter — he’d already scored a touchdown on a 15-yard pass from fellow rookie Jaxson Dart in the first quarter.
“Cam Skattebo is so transcendent that Eagles fans are cheering for him as he is carted off,” X user Chuck Bass wrote on his official X account. “America is healing.”
Skattebo had 110 yards of total offense and scored 3 touchdowns in a 34-17 win over the Eagles in Week 6.
“It has taken all of the air out of what is typically a really raucous atmosphere,” Fox Sports play by play analyst Kevin Harlan said during the broadcast. “Just a devastating and tough scene challenging the Giants moving forward.”
Fox Won’t Show Skattebo Injury on Broadcast
When Fox Sports came back from a commercial break after Skattebo’s injury, color commentator and 7-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady told viewers the network would not be showing Skattebo’s injury.
“That’s not something we’re going to show,” Brady said. “For pretty obvious reasons … the Giants are going to have to compartmentalize and move forward but that’s not easy to do.”
It’s a direct contrast to the days of the 1980s and 1990s, when networks would repeatedly show gruesome injuries.
There was no such quarter spared for those on social media, where Skattebo’s injury quickly became a worldwide trending topic — the former Arizona State star and 2025 fourth round pick (No. 105 overall) had quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s most talented young players just a few months into his career.
Outpouring of Shock, Disgust Over Skattebo’s Injury
Skattebo’s injury quickly became the biggest story of Week 8.
“Very classy from Eagles fans, giving Cam Skattebo a standing ovation as he has taken off on a cart to the locker room after a gruesome injury,” NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark wrote on his official X account. “He gave a thumbs up to the crowd.”
“Absolutely loved watching Cam Skattebo this year played every snap as hard as he could and his love for the game was evident some weren’t sure if his success would translate from college… but he kept running dudes over in the NFL too,” NFL analytics guru Warren Sharp wrote on his official X account. “Get better soon.”
“Cam Skattebo with one of the worst injuries i have ever seen live,” Fade Away Media wrote on its official X account. “Just awful. Prayers up.
