Report: Jets Safety Andre Cisco Has Torn His Pec
On Sunday, the New York Jets pulled off a comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals for their first win of the season. Unfortunately, the win came at a cost. Entering their bye week, New York received some bleak news about starting strong safety Andre Cisco. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the veteran suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the team’s win. As a result, the fifth-year safety will need surgery, and his season could be over.

Report: Andre Cisco Out for the Season With Torn Pec
During the offseason, the New York Jets made an addition to their secondary, signing longtime Jacksonville Jaguar Andre Cisco. A New York native and graduate of Syracuse University, Cisco was selected by the Jaguars with the 65th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Over four seasons, Cisco started in 47 of the 63 games he played for in Jacksonville. Despite some inconsistent play, Cisco managed to become adept at creating turnovers, having eight interceptions during his four seasons. Between 2022-2023, Cisco had 7 interceptions over 30 games, along with over 130 total tackles.

Eventually, the Jaguars opted to go in a different direction, resulting in Andre Cisco heading into unrestricted free agency. Needing an opportunity to prove he can get a long-term contract, Cisco signed with the Jets in March on a one-year deal. After earning the strong safety job, Cisco has proven to be a surprisingly decent starter. Despite no turnovers generated for the first five weeks from the defense, Cisco had 41 total tackles in eight total games and a fumble recovery. Alas, the injury suffered in Cincinnati will force Cisco’s season to end.
Who Will Replace Andre Cisco in the lineup?
With Cisco’s season over, the Jets will need to replace him in the secondary. Fortunately, the team is in a bye week, so head coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Steve Wilks have time. After the bye week, the Jets will return to MetLife Stadium to face the Cleveland Browns. Immediately, signs point to veteran safety Tony Adams replacing Cisco in the starting lineup. Thus far, Adams has underperformed as a backup, with only 20 total tackles generated. Additionally, expect veteran Isaiah Oliver to be a candidate to get Cisco’s snaps.

While he hasn’t been otherworldly, Andre Cisco’s injury comes at an unfortunate time after the team’s first win. The Long Island native embraced every opportunity during this homecoming. With Cisco out, fans can only hope star cornerback Sauce Gardner can come back soon to help the defense as he recovers from a concussion.
Kevin Patullo Responds to Criticism as Eagles' Offense Struggles, Threatening Super Bowl Hopes: "We're Focused on Improvement"

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has addressed the mounting criticism surrounding the team’s offensive struggles, acknowledging the challenges but remaining confident in the team’s ability to bounce back. With the Eagles’ offense facing difficulties, Patullo is under intense scrutiny, as some critics argue that their current form may jeopardize their chances of securing a second consecutive Super Bowl victory.
“We’re all aware of the criticism, but the focus remains on improvement,” Patullo said in a recent interview. “We know we’re not playing at the level we expect from ourselves, but that’s what we’re working to fix. We’ve got a great group of players, and I believe in our ability to get back on track.”
The Eagles, who were dominant last season and are seen as serious Super Bowl contenders, have had difficulty executing offensively this year. Inconsistent play from the offensive line and missed opportunities in the passing game have contributed to their struggles, leading to calls for change and increased scrutiny on Patullo’s coaching.
“It’s part of the job,” Patullo continued. “When things aren’t going well, the coaches and players take the heat. But we’ve been through adversity before, and we know how to handle it. We’ve got to stay focused and work through it. The ultimate goal hasn’t changed, and we’re committed to getting back to the Super Bowl.”
Despite the mounting pressure, Patullo remains steadfast in his belief that the Eagles’ offense can regain its form. He emphasized the need for continuous communication and adjustment, stating that the team is taking a proactive approach to resolve the issues and get back to their winning ways.
“We’re a resilient group,” Patullo added. “We’ve got everything we need to be successful, and it’s just about refining our execution. The Super Bowl is still the goal, and that’s what we’re all working toward.”
As the Eagles prepare for upcoming games, Patullo’s leadership and ability to guide the offense through this rough patch will be crucial. With the team’s championship aspirations still very much alive, the focus remains on fixing the offensive struggles and finding a way back to the top.
