The Boston Red Sox are entering another offseason with hopes of adding players that can help propel the organization towards an American League Pennant. Last offseason, Boston made key additions like Alex Bregman, Garrett Crochet, and Aroldis Chapman. Those three players helped Boston reach the playoffs for the first time in a few years, but now president of baseball operations, Craig Breslow will be looking to take another step towards a World Series berth.
Boston acquired Crochet via a trade with the Chicago White Sox, which leads some to believe the Red Sox will be active in the trade market once again. After the Red Sox did not extend a qualifying offer to starter Lucas Giolito, he is set to become a free agent. If the Red Sox don’t re-sign Giolito, they have a hole to fix in the starting rotation. Could they pull off a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates for one of their quality starters?
Red Sox linked to Pirates’ Mitch Keller

Starting pitcher Mitch Keller picked up a lot of trade rumors back in July, but ultimately ended up staying put. The All-Star starter holds a lot of trade value due to his contract, which is team-friendly at five years, $77 million.
In a recent bold predictions piece, Bleacher Report writer Joel Reuter proposes the idea of the Red Sox trading for Mitch Keller in a player-for-player swap that includes Wilyer Abreu:
“The Boston Red Sox have an abundance of outfield talent and a clear need for a veteran starting pitcher to replace Lucas Giolito, who is expected to decline his end of a $19 million mutual option.”
After Garrett Crochet, the Red Sox rotation really thins out, and adding another depth starter should be a top priority for Boston’s front office this offseason.
Why Should the Red Sox Offload Wilyer Abreu?
At this point, the Red Sox have an extreme surplus of outfielders. After extending Ceddanne Rafaela and Roman Anthony, Wilyer Abreu has become the subject of trade rumors. The Gold Glove outfielder hit 22 home runs this season and posted an OPS+ of 116 in 115 games. He would be a great piece for a Pirates organization that desperately needs bats, and he still has several years before he is a free agent.
As for Mitch Keller, his record was ugly this season at 6-15, but he recorded a 4.19 ERA in 176.1 innings, and he’s proven he can take the ball every fifth day as a durable starter. Keller has four straight seasons of 150+ innings.
Abreu will continue to be the subject of trade rumors as the offseason progresses, because if the Red Sox are serious about being AL contenders next season, they will have to add to a rotation that has a workhorse at the top in Crochet.
Jarren Duran Defends Taylor Swift Amidst Ongoing Drama with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: 'This Is Bigger Than Music—It’s About Respect'

The drama between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian has long been a topic of public fascination. Over the years, the tensions between the pop star and the reality TV mogul have evolved from a personal dispute into a cultural phenomenon, one that has drawn in fans, celebrities, and even athletes. The feud, which began with Kanye West’s infamous interruption at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, has continued to haunt Swift, especially after Kardashian released the infamous phone call video in 2016, reigniting old wounds.
The video, which showed a conversation between Swift and West, was meant to highlight a disagreement over lyrics in Kanye’s song "Famous," but it quickly spiraled into a media frenzy. Swift accused the Kardashians of manipulating the footage to paint her as a liar, and for years, fans have been divided over who was in the right.
Now, in 2025, the drama has once again resurfaced as athletes and celebrities alike have begun speaking out. Among the most recent to defend Taylor Swift is Jarren Duran, the Boston Red Sox outfielder, who publicly took a stand on behalf of the pop icon.
Duran, who has often been outspoken on matters of respect and integrity, expressed his frustration with how the situation had unfolded over the years. "What Taylor went through, especially with that phone call, was more than just a celebrity feud," Duran stated during an interview. "It’s a perfect example of how women—especially those in the spotlight—are treated differently. It’s about respect, and that's something that should have been given from the start."
Duran, who has gained significant media attention not only for his impressive on-field performances but also for his advocacy on social issues, praised Swift for her resilience throughout the ordeal. "She’s handled herself with nothing but grace. Despite all the public scrutiny, she’s stayed true to herself, and I think that’s why she resonates with so many people. Taylor has always been about empowering others, and I admire that."
The outfielder’s comments have sparked a wave of support from Swift’s fanbase, who continue to rally behind the singer after nearly two decades of public drama. Duran’s remarks come at a time when the long-standing feud between Swift and the Kardashians has resurfaced in the media, with some fans accusing Kim Kardashian of intentionally prolonging the tension for publicity.
Despite the efforts to reignite the conflict, it appears that Duran’s words have struck a chord with many, as celebrities and fans alike have begun speaking out in support of Swift. "I don’t think Taylor ever deserved what happened," Duran added. "She has handled every situation with class, and for anyone to still try and tear her down in 2025—it’s ridiculous. No one should be dragged through the mud like that."
Swift herself has remained largely silent about the renewed drama, focusing instead on her music and philanthropy. However, her supporters, including figures like Jarren Duran, continue to speak out on her behalf, ensuring that the singer’s legacy is defined by her artistry and character, rather than the past controversies that once threatened to overshadow it.
As the years pass and the media frenzy around Swift and the Kardashians fades, it’s clear that this saga has left an indelible mark on the public consciousness. Whether or not the feud is ever fully resolved, one thing is certain: Taylor Swift’s influence, both as an artist and as a symbol of resilience, remains stronger than ever—thanks in part to the unwavering support from those who see the bigger picture.
