Tyler Lockett Talks Joining the Raiders

After joining the Raiders, Lockett spoke with reporters on October 27, explaining his choice to sign with the Silver and Black.

“I think it was just conversations with my agent, and, obviously, once I was able to get released and the time went by on waivers, I was able to kind of talk to [Raiders head coach Pete Carroll], and I think it was pretty cool just to have a chance to come back,

“

Lockett told reporters

“I played with Pete for nine years, so I understand his system, I understand what he’s trying to bring to the culture, and I’m just thankful that I got another chance to be able to play for him.”

Raiders Look to Rekindle Past Connection

Lockett also spoke about the strong chemistry he shares with Smith. He noted that even though they haven’t been on the field together for some time, their connection is solid, allowing them to quickly pick up right where they left off back in Seattle.

“We grew so much just being able to play,” Lockett added. “We went through different coordinators, learned different systems, understood how to adjust our game, but still being able to

like build. And so, it’s been pretty fun just to be able to come back, kind of try to pick up where we left off.

“And it’s cool not being able to have to go somewhere else where you don’t always have to try to figure out how to play with somebody in the middle of the season. It’s like we already have that chemistry, and so we can continue to go from there.”

The Philadelphia Eagles are once again thriving, and they are receiving significant contributions from a talented rookie.

The Philadelphia Eagles are once again atop the NFC East, holding a 6-2 record after eight weeks. With so many talented players returning from last season’s Super Bowl team, the Eagles have flexed their muscles and found ways to win games, even when it’s not pretty. Their success this season hasn’t just been because of returning players, though. Philadelphia has some talented newcomers who joined the party.

One of those newcomers is rookie linebacker Jihaad Campbell. The versatile defender was recently named Philadelphia’s best offseason addition in ESPN’s latest power rankings. For the Eagles, who were ranked No. 3, that really isn’t a surprise. The biggest surprise about Campbell remains the fact that he actually fell to the Eagles.

Tim McManus praised Campbell for his versatility, highlighting how he has played as an off-ball linebacker and as an edge defender, thriving at both. As a rookie, he has been able to help out the defense however Philly needs.

"The first-round pick out of Alabama has been a contributor in Vic Fangio's defense from the jump. Campbell has played 87% of the snaps with 45 tackles, eight QB pressures and an interception. His role shifted when Nakobe Dean recently returned from a knee injury, moving from starting inside linebacker to more of a hybrid edge player. That has come with a learning curve, but Campbell's versatility is already proving valuable."

Again, this isn’t surprising. Campbell showcased this skill set during his time at Alabama, and that’s why he was considered a top-10 talent in the 2025 Draft. However, concerns about his shoulders and knees led to him dropping to the Eagles at 31 in the first round. It was a gamble Philly could afford since it already had such a strong team, and it’s paying off.

Campbell has played in all eight games, recording 45 tackles, one for a loss, one forced fumble, two pass deflections, and an interception. It’s still extremely early in his career, but it seems like the Eagles will soon have another elite defender.
