Packers' Kamal Hadden Stakes His Claim for a Roster Spot
Green Bay Packers’ summer camp saw a number of players making themselves seen and heard by stepping up and acing their roles. Cornerback Kamal Hadden is one of those.
Hadden is on his second season with the Packers after getting signed before the start of the 2024 season. He was picked 211th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in that year but was waived before the opening day. He became part of the active roster in Week 2 last year.
He waited for his turn and received a reserve/future contract after their season ended in January. He stayed healthy and got his rare opportunities in the training camp and pre-season games. He even has head coach Matt LaFleur taking notice.
“Kamal was sticky in coverage,” LaFleur said.
“He’s got the talent. It’s just the consistency with which you play. So that was exciting to see him in a game environment go out there and do that.”
Kamal Hadden thinks he did all he could
The coaches are taking notice and Hadden is aware of what he accomplished in this camp. He hopes the front office saw it, too, before their 53-man roster announcement.
“I think I just put on the tape a guy that can come in and play and compete,” Hadden said about his last performance against the Seattle Seawhawks.
“A guy that works his tail off and a young guy that can come in and it’s not a dip, a guy that can come in and hold his own and do whatever he need to do for the team. So hopefully that’s what they seen, too.”
Hadden will compete for the cornerback position together with Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs who are the first two in the roster depth chart. Also in the mix are Carrington Valentine, Bo Melton, and Kalen King.
The Packers will announce their 53-man roster on Tuesday.
