The story behind Darrick Forrest's journey to the Pittsburgh Steelers couldn't be any more inspiring, as he recently detailed his incredible work ethic during his visit and workout session with the team.
Courtesy of a report from Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh, Forrest revealed that he was dealing with the flu on the day of his workout with Pittsburgh — pushing himself to the point he almost vomited afterward. Forrest shared that it was worth it once he found out he was being signed by the Steelers.
Selected by the Commanders with the 163rd overall pick in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Forrest showed promise as a starter during his time in Washington before injuries derailed his early success.
Forrest went on to sign with the Bills in 2025 but was released as part of final roster cuts. He then signed with the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on September 9 but was released four days later.
It remains to be seen if Forrest will be elevated to play against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday, but he could have his number called soon as the Steelers deal with several injuries in their secondary.
