Marcus Spears Shares Hilarious Reason for Disliking Eagles GM Howie Roseman
Marcus Spears, former NFL player and current football analyst, recently shared a hilarious reason for his dislike of Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman, offering fans a lighthearted peek into the playful football rivalries that fuel the game’s behind-the-scenes drama.
In a recent segment, Spears, known for his candid and often comedic commentary, cracked jokes about his "beef" with Roseman, which is more rooted in the fierce competition between the Eagles and Spears’ favorite teams, rather than anything personal.
“Let me tell you why I don’t like Howie Roseman,” Spears began, with a smile. “This guy has been making so many great moves for the Eagles, it’s almost like he has a magic wand or something. And I’m just sitting here like, ‘Hey, what about us?’ The man is out here looking like a wizard, drafting studs and making deals while I’m over here with a frustrated team!”
Spears, known for his humorous takes, continued, “Honestly, if I’m being real, I hate that he’s so good at his job. The Eagles are always in the mix, and I’m over here wondering why we can’t have that kind of magic. So yeah, every time I see Howie on TV making another move, I just think to myself, ‘Man, he’s doing it again.’ It’s like he’s playing chess while I’m playing checkers!”
While Spears made it clear that his “hatred” for Roseman was all in good fun, his comments highlighted the competitive nature of the NFL, especially when it comes to teams who are perennial contenders like the Eagles.
“It’s all love, but seriously, I’m just jealous of how good he is at what he does,” Spears said, laughing. “I wish I could be that good at running a team! It’s all part of the rivalry, but I’ll admit, I wouldn’t mind having some of that Roseman magic on my squad.”
Despite his playful banter, Spears also acknowledged Roseman’s football acumen, calling him one of the most effective GMs in the league today. “At the end of the day, you have to respect his work. Howie has done an incredible job with the Eagles, and you can’t deny the success they’ve had under his leadership. It’s just frustrating when you’re a competitor.”
As the rivalry between teams continues, Spears’ comments were a reminder that the NFL is not just about what happens on the field — it’s about the passion, humor, and fierce competition that fans and analysts alike enjoy year-round.
Lions are confident Marcus Davenport will return this season

The Detroit Lions are expected to have a quiet trade deadline, but that doesn’t mean the team won’t be getting some reinforcement. Speaking to reporters last week, coach

“I can’t give you a definitive, ‘This is when he’s going to be back,'” Campbell said (via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press). “I am just very confident he is going to be back. We’re going to get him back here.”
Davenport has struggled to see the field since joining the Lions ahead of the 2024 campaign. He was limited to two games during his first season in Detroit because of a triceps injury, and he’s only made a pair of appearances in 2025 thanks to a pectoral strain. The veteran has been sitting on injured reserve since Week 3.
Injuries have been a theme throughout Davenport’s career. The former first-round pick missed 19 games in five seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He had a staggering five surgeries during the 2022 offseason, including a partial amputation of a finger. He still earned a one-year, $13M contract from the Minnesota Vikings in 2023, but he got into only four games with the team before suffering a season-ending high ankle sprain.
When Davenport has been on the field, he’s shown flashes of being an elite edge rusher. He totaled 10.5 sacks through his first two seasons in the NFL, and he had a nine-sack showing in 2021. Even though he’s been limited to a total of eight games over the past three years, he’s still managed to collect 3.5 sacks, including one in 56 snaps this season.
While the Lions clearly can’t be overly reliant on the pass rusher, they will surely find a way to use him. With Josh Paschal also sidelined, the Lions have turned to the likes of
