Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a crucial setback in their NFL playoff bid after losing to the Dallas Cowboys in their Thanksgiving showdown on Thursday.
The Chiefs bowed to the Cowboys, 31-28, despite Mahomes throwing four touchdowns and making history. Dak Prescott threw only two touchdowns while running back Malik Davis added a rushing score, but Kansas City couldn’t overcome multiple holds and pass interference calls.
As a result, the Chiefs dropped to 6-6 on the season, placing them at No. 9 in the AFC, on the outside looking in for a playoff spot. Making matters worse, the teams above Kansas City in the standings, specifically the Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills, all have a tiebreaker advantage.
Despite the loss, however, it didn’t stop Mahomes and his family from having an incredible Thanksgiving.
“Getting to spend Thanksgiving with all our family in TX this year is so special,” Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, wrote on her Instagram stories, along with a photo of several plates organized on a table for the festivity.
It’s worth noting that Mahomes’ family — his wife and their three kids, Sterling Skye, Bronze and Golden Raye — joined the Chiefs signal-caller in his trip to Texas, not only to watch the game but also to celebrate the holiday.
Mahomes is from Tyler, Texas, and played for Texas Tech in college. The same goes for his wife, who is from Whitehouse, Texas, and attended the University of Texas at Tyler.
While they would have loved to celebrate a win in Texas, getting to spend time with their family at home clearly still made the trip memorable.
