Julianne Hough Reveals Why Fans Once Thought She & Derek Hough Were Married
“Dancing With the Stars” co-host Julianne Hough recently shared that fans once mistook she and her brother Derek Hough for a married couple. According to Julianne, the confusion began when she and Derek performed a rumba together, which is often known as the dance of love.
“Our first thing that we ever did on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ was we were both on the live tour before I was ever on the show,” Julianne explained on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast, adding that Carrie Ann Inaba choreographed a rumba for the siblings to perform.
“Our names in the program were ‘Derek and Julianne Hough,’ so everybody thought we were married and we were doing this rumba,” the dancer said. And when they learned the duo were siblings it only made things more awkward.
“When people found out we were brother-sister, I remember specifically there was one venue where we were dancing and we just heard [someone shouting] ‘That’s just wrong!’” Julianne revealed.
Derek Hough Is a Protective Older Brother to Julianne

Julianne Hough, 37, and Derek Hough, 40, were both successful fan-favorite dance pros on “DWTS” and now they each serve different roles on the show. Derek is a judge and Julianne co-hosts alongside Alfonso Ribeiro.
But through it all, Derek has remained protective of his little sister. “My brother’s a lot more like, ‘Julianne, don’t show your your belly’ and I’m like ‘Derek, zip it,'” Julianne shared. “He’s cute, he’s very protective … I’m like a little bit of a wrecking ball for him.”
“Jokes aside, it’s really cool that we get to do, you know, similar things in our own way,” the dancer continued. “We’re cut from the same cloth so there’s a lot of similar energy, but we’re very different.”
Will Derek & Julianne Hough Perform Together on ‘DWTS’ This Season?
Season 34 of “DWTS” premieres on September 16, and it’s shaping up to be an exciting one. The cast was announced last week with stars such as Alix Earle, Dylan Efron, Danielle Fishel, Hilaria Baldwin, and more.
But will fans get to see Julianne and Derek Hough dancing together again? “We should,” Derek told Us Weekly. “That door is always open for us to get together and do something fun.”
So it’s a possibility, but Julianne is very happy with her current position as co-host. “I get to also watch as a fan this time,” she explained. “Then I get to support and hopefully ask the right kind of questions to have America fall in love with them and want to root for them.”
NeNe Leakes Blasts Lisa Vanderpump, Accuses Her of Manipulation and Claims She Did “Foul S**t to Me”

NeNe Leakes accused Lisa Vanderpump of taking her location idea after manipulating her into not buying it. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star shared their past phone call, and she claimed she did “foul s**t to me.”
In 2014, Lisa opened her Pump restaurant in West Hollywood. Many scenes on Vanderpump Rules were filmed there, though she eventually closed it down in 2023. Before her exit on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, several of Lisa’s co-stars accused her of playing dirty behind the scenes.
“[There’s] something [Lisa] did to me that … I’ve never really addressed,” said NeNe via @talkandblockpodcast and @bravo_boo on Instagram. “I know a lot of people look at her like [she’s a certain way]. I’m like, she did some real foul s**t to me.”
The host then wondered, “Maybe the rumors are true that she kind of manipulates people.”
“She does,” NeNe agreed. “So in L.A., she has a place called Pump on Santa Monica Boulevard, that bar. So at the time, Gregg and I were living up in Doheny Estates, we had our house up there, and I was working on Glee and New Normal.”
“And I [would] ride down that West Hollywood area where I kept thinking, it would be so cool if I had a bar right in here somewhere. And that space was empty and kind of raggedy looking and torn down, and the Abbey is like right there,” NeNe continued. “And I said, this is a cool spot cause I could get some of the business from the Abbey. I said, who could I call and ask is this a good area, cause I’m not so sure. So I call Lisa Vanderpump.”
NeNe said she asked Lisa about the area.
“She [responded], ‘Oh darling, darling, it’s a piece of crap and they’re charging so much for it, darling.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I love it, I think it’s a great space. And I knew to call you cause I knew you have a restaurant.’ … She talked me [out of it], and went and got it [herself].”
“That’s so fucked up,” she said. “The next thing I know, [she opened] Pump [there]. I was like, is this b**ch serious? And so now when she’s seen me — she has her little dog that doesn’t even crawl — and she’s like, ‘Um, hi NeNe…'”
The star claimed Lisa “never” apologized.
“She just looks at me funny, like … she knows [that I] know,” said NeNe, who called her “Vander-lump.”
