Jets DB Jarvis Brownlee Jr Goes After Titans Following Upset Win
New York Jets cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr made the winning pass breakup in the closing moments of the Week 8 victory versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Naturally, several reporters wanted to get a quote from him after the game in the locker room. Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic explained what happened as they were waiting to speak with Brownlee.
“So the locker room is wrapping up, and Tom Rock and I from Newsday are kind of waiting to talk to Brownlee because he had that last play. He was the last one in the locker room. Everybody else in the media had already left. He is like taking his time putting on his jewelry and stuff, which is kind of funny, but at one point he asks, ‘What time is it?’ We say it’s like 4:57 [pm] and he’s like ‘Oh great, I still have time to go and watch the [Tennessee] Titans lose’,” Rosenblatt revealed on “Jets Final Drive.”
The North Remembers
On September 23, the Jets sent a 2026 sixth-round pick in a trade with the Titans for Brownlee and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
After the trade was processed, Brownlee spoke to the Jets media in the locker room a few days later.
He revealed to the media that he was “absolutely surprised” and “a little bit hurt” by the Titans’ decision to trade him.

Insiders Explain How Big of a Win This Deal Was for the Jets
“Yeah, I just don’t understand. There had to be something that nobody knows about with the Titans. Like, I do not get why you get rid of a guy on a rookie contract who is clearly this good,” Rosenblatt said on “Jets Final Drive.”
“It should be said that: 1. Darren Mougey hit an absolute home run with the Jarvis Brownlee trade. 2. What on Earth were the Titans thinking trade him away for nothing?” Rosenblatt asked on social media.

“He has that kind of edge to him, though,” Rosenblatt said.
“Good, you need guys like that. That’s a dawg. That goes back to like Jamal Adams, that guy is a dawg,” NFL Insider Connor Hughes responded.
“Remember you and I talking about that earlier in the season. Probably before he started really playing a role. We were like who is the guy on this defense who is going to be like the energy giver?” Rosenblatt said to Hughes. “Like Jermaine Johnson, you could say, but he was hurt at the time, but other than that, you didn’t have a C.J. Mosley. A guy who was going to rally the troops and really just set the tone. It seems like he [Brownlee] is that guy. He has a lot of confidence, and he says all the right things … He loves being a Jet already.”
After the Jets’ first win of the season over the Bengals, Brownlee took to social media. “God I just want to say…I’m grateful for you making me a JET🙏🏽💚,” Brownlee posted.
“He is a guy who could be a culture-changing type player. Not in terms of saying he is going to be a superstar or anything, but just the way he plays football. That can be a really big boon for Aaron Glenn as he tries to find like his guys with this new regime,” Rosenblatt explained.
Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba Build Special Connection: "We’re Just Scratching the Surface"
In a hard-fought victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold showcased his growing connection with rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The duo displayed incredible chemistry throughout the game, with Smith-Njigba making key plays that helped propel the Seahawks to a 20–12 win. Darnold, who threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns, credited his success to the talented wide receiver, emphasizing that the connection between the two is just beginning to develop.
“It’s not just about me—today was a team effort,” Darnold said after the game. “But Jaxon and I are starting to build something special. When you have a guy like that on your side, it makes everything easier. He’s a freak of nature. I trust him to make those plays, and all I have to do is get the ball in his hands. We’re only scratching the surface, and we’re going to keep getting better week by week. We’ve got something real brewing here, and it’s exciting to think about what we can do moving forward.”
Smith-Njigba, who recorded eight catches for 162 yards and a touchdown, has quickly become one of Darnold’s most reliable targets. The young wide receiver’s ability to stretch the field and make difficult catches has given Darnold the confidence to take more risks downfield. As the season progresses, Darnold’s trust in Smith-Njigba is becoming evident, with the two players developing a seamless on-field connection.
What makes this partnership even more promising is that both Darnold and Smith-Njigba are just scratching the surface of their potential. Darnold, who joined the Seahawks this season, is still adjusting to the team’s offensive system, while Smith-Njigba is in his rookie year. Despite this, the growth they’ve shown together in a short amount of time is a testament to their work ethic and ability to bond quickly.
Head coach Pete Carroll also praised the duo, noting that the potential for this connection to develop further is enormous. “Sam and Jaxon are just getting started,” Carroll said. “They’ve shown incredible promise, and we’re excited to see where this partnership can take us as the season moves on.”
The Seahawks are now 4-2, sitting at the top of the NFC West standings, and the offense is starting to find its rhythm. With Darnold and Smith-Njigba leading the charge, the future looks bright for the Seahawks’ offense, and fans are eager to see how this dynamic duo will continue to evolve.
As the season progresses, it’s clear that Darnold and Smith-Njigba have the potential to become one of the NFL’s most exciting quarterback-receiver duos. With their undeniable chemistry and the promise of continued improvement, the sky’s the limit for what they can achieve together.
