Former NFL All-Pro Exposed Steelers' Aaron Rodgers For Being Scared Against Packers
The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to 4-3 on the 2025 season after a crushing home loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. The Steelers are now 2-2 at home following the 35-25 defeat on Sunday night. The most frustrating aspect of this game was that Pittsburgh entered halftime with a 16-7 lead, seemingly in control and poised to extend their advantage. Everything was set for the Steelers to come out of the break with momentum, yet the second half unfolded in the exact opposite way.

Former NFL All-Pro and two-time Super Bowl champion defensive back Asante Samuel addressed the loss on his podcast, Say What Needs To Be Said
"Micah Parsons had Aaron Rodgers terrified for the rest of the game after that first sack," Samuel said while chatting on his podcast on Monday. "It was something that happened during that first sack that got Aaron Rodgers off his game."
According to Samuel, Rodgers’ cautious play illustrated the disruptive presence Parsons brought to the game, a factor that played a major role in Pittsburgh’s second-half struggles.
The comments underscored how a single matchup can swing the momentum in critical games and how the Steelers were unable to respond.
"It was like Micah Parsons was in the front of his mind," Samuel said. "He tried to play with more patience in the pocket during the second half, but it led to more sacks and quarterback pressures. Rodgers couldn't get his mind off of Micah. You could see how antsy his feet were towards the end of the game."
Rodgers was sacked three times for a total loss of 17 yards. However, the bigger issue, according to Samuel, came from the early pass rushes. He seriously believes Rodgers had to change his approach during this contest for the first time in the 2025 season. Samuel noticed Rodgers appeared flustered in the pocket and genuinely nervous throughout the game.
Steelers' Offensive Line Didn't Do Enough Sunday Night
It was never going to be easy to slow down Parsons and the rest of the Packers’ elite pass rush. However, the Steelers’ offensive line did more than just allow three sacks. According to Samuel, they let Parsons get into Rodgers’ face early, and he stayed in his head all night, eventually recording a sack in the fourth quarter.
It was a frustrating loss for the Steelers, and while the blame does not fall entirely on the offense, they did not do enough to protect Rodgers. The defense also struggled, giving up 454 total yards of offense. This is yet another game Steelers fans will try to forget quickly. Now the Steelers will try and bounce back at home against the red-hot Indianapolis Colts in Week 9.
The most obvious answer is defense, but why do you believe that the Steelers were not able to beat the Packers in Week 8?
