EXCLUSIVE: Mel Owens Reveals How Being the Golden Bachelor Changed His Perspective on Women Over 60
Bachelor Nation has been watching Mel Owens search for love on Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor.”
And each week, fans get to know more about the remarkable women hoping to capture Mel’s heart and find their happily ever after.
Earlier this year, Mel expressed in a podcast his preferences for only dating women who were between the ages of 45 and 60, which landed him in hot water.
Since then, the Golden Bachelor has apologized for his comments and has been working on earning back the women’s trust.

Now, Mel has stopped by for an exclusive interview with BachelorNation.com after “The Women Tell All” to reveal how this experience has changed his perspective.
Check out our interview below.
Bachelor Nation:
Mel Owens: Hi, thank you! Even though I said what I said, I was actually explaining a story about a story. But that’s long gone. I was married for 25 years and my ex-wife is 20 years younger than me, so my perspective is, I was just one-on-one with her. I didn’t care about [age]. I wasn’t going, “Hey, how old are you?” I wasn’t doing that. My perspective was skewed. But then once I got it straightened out, I was fine. You know what I mean? I was fine! The best part [of this experience] is that you’re with 23 amazing women. And you learn from them because they all have a story, and I have a unique background.

You couldn’t do this type of process on your own because it takes time. But here they gather them all in one space and you get to meet with them and talk to them and get to know them, and pretty quick. Obviously, you get intimate with your thoughts and where you’re from. And that’s what I try to do. I try to find out about them and what they’re all about and where they’re from. So the expectations were high, but they exceeded them because of the experience. It’s really unique, and I’m glad it was me. It’s just wonderful.
BN: That’s great! Is there anything specific you’d love people to know about you and your experience on the show?
MO: Yes, that I love life. I just love doing things. I do. That’s why people go, “Oh, why did you go on the show?” You know, because I’m looking for love. But what a unique experience. So I try to do things that are gonna enrich my life and I thought this would be one of them. And it has! You can only know if you’re in the shoes. And I didn’t know, I knew it was big and wonderful, but not like it turned out to be.
Amelia Gray Hamlin, 24, flashes her chest in see-through dress as she poses with her mom Lisa Rinna, 62

Amelia Gray Hamlin left very little to the imagination as she attended the opening of Swarovski Masters of Light Hollywood on Tuesday with her mother

The 24-year-old nepo baby flashed her ample assets and black thong beneath the completely sheer mesh midi-dress beaded with Swarovski crystals, which she paired with slingback peep-toe heels and a glittery choker.
Amelia - who proudly posed with the 62-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum - did manage to shield a little bit of her modesty by donning nude-colored pasties under the see-through creation.
Hamlin - who's struggled with anorexia since 2018 - has higher brows, more hallowed cheeks, and a smaller nose than she did six years ago.
The Lions Management Model might be one of the many young models and actresses who've undergone trendy buccal fat removal, an irreversible plastic surgery procedure to give women sharper cheekbones.
Amelia Gray Hamlin (R) left very little to the imagination as she attended the opening of Swarovski Masters of Light Hollywood on Tuesday with her mother Lisa Rinna (L)
Lisa rocked a matching Swarovski choker as her daughter with a black tube dress featuring flirty cut-outs all the way down the sides, which was selected by stylist Danyul Brown.
While posing together, Rinna and Amelia recited her meme-worthy 'it's couture' Balenciaga catchphrase in unison.
Say what you will, but the mother-daughter duo always seems to have a fun time bonding together.
Hamlin was 'dying over the original red slippers' from The Wizard of Oz while Lisa marveled at a teal-feathered costume worn by 'Josephine Baker!'
The traveling exhibition 'celebrating 130 years of Swarovski's creative joy' begins this Wednesday at Lighthouse ArtSpace LA and promptly closes next Monday.
Rinna is one of the 23 contestants vying for the $250K prize on the fourth season of Peacock's reality competition The Traitors airing early next year, and she 'had absolutely no strategy.'
'"Hi! What are we doing? Where's my drink? And wait, I have to go do that and be physical and like carry s***?"' the four-time Daytime Emmy nominee groaned to ET.
'It's different. Housewives is mentally and emotionally very difficult. This is emotionally and physically hard. This is hard. There's people lying everywhere. You can't trust anybody. Nobody. So, it is kind of like Housewives.'
