Dan Quinn gave the Jayden Daniels injury answer no Commanders fan wanted to hear
Things went from bad to worse in a hurry, for the Washington Commanders, on Sunday Night Football. In a game that saw the Commanders fall behind quickly, it didn't slow down.

To make matters worse, quarterback Jayden Daniels went down with a scary injury about midway through the fourth quarter. It was obviously serious as it didn't take long for each and every Commanders teammate to go down on a knee, fearing the worst.
After the game Commanders head coach Dan Quinn commented on Daniels' injury and status, calling it a left elbow injury and not saying much more than that. As for whether there was a discussion to take Daniels out of the game at that point?
Quinn told the media there wasn't a discussion, although in "hindsight," it would've made sense, per JP Finlay of NBCS.
Really? There wasn't even a discussion to pull your franchise quarterback down by 31 points with half a quarter to go?
Dan Quinn should take full responsibility for Jayden Daniels' elbow injury
Sure, anything can happen in the NFL.
But the fact is, what most Commanders fans can't seem to escape is the thought that Quinn brought this upon his quarterback. Down by a score of 38-7 with just over seven minutes to go in the fourth quarter, there is absolutely no chance Daniels should be in the game.
Yet, he was. And, the unthinkable happened.
It sure seems inexcusable for Quinn to have allowed Daniels to be in the game, at that point, but hindsight is, indeed, always 20/20. Still, one can only wonder whether the Commanders' season would be salvaged with Daniels under center and after dropping to 3-6.
Daniels' backup, veteran Marcus Mariota, took over after the injury. And, it'll be Mariota for the foreseeable future now that Daniels is going to be recovering. Mariota bringing the Commanders back from their current state and into playoff positioning seems like a pipe dream.
This team has more problems other than the quarterback. The roster is old and, sadly, that was by Adam Peters' design. This fact, along with the injury bug, is something the Commanders don't have a remedy for.
Now, they'll have to wish and hope for a magical turnaround behind Mariota while Daniels watches from the sidelines.
