Dallas Cowboys Regret Fining Trevon Diggs as He Proves Them Wrong with Early Return
It was a little while ago, but remember when the Dallas Cowboys fined All-Pro corner Trevon Diggs $500,000 as part of a de-escalator clause in his contract if he didn't participate in 84 percent of the offseason program?
With Diggs doing his rehab away from The Star, in South Florida, the Cowboys felt the need to "punish'' the All-Pro (which they are within their rights to do) because he wasn't in the team facility.
"They do a great job here," Diggs said back in July. "I just felt like it was in my best interest to go somewhere to get the full, undivided attention I needed, massages and the whole 9 yards, to better and further my career, to make sure I'm good, ahead of schedule and that I can perform well."
Well, Trevon might just have gotten the vindication he needed with Diggs now activated off of the PUP list after passing his medical and is now part of the active 53-man roster.
Yeah, you read that right.
Trevon is now in line to return early in the season, and while we doubt he'll be ready for Week 1 (although many doubted he'd be back now), with a serious ramp-up needed in practice, but No. 7 is back, and he should feel vindicated in his decision.
It looms as a huge piece of news for the Cowboys' secondary to have Diggs now back on the practice field, and yes, we understand it will be a slow build-up, but the fact that Trevon is back now gives the proverbial middle finger to the front office, which doubted his rehab work ethic.
