Commanders trade chatter intensifies after latest NFL insider tease
Adam Peters is in a tricky predicament heading into the 2025 trade deadline. The Washington Commanders have lofty expectations that aren't being met right now. Either the general manager rides it out with what he has, or he takes another swing in the hope of achieving short-term results.
Fans are skeptical about whether another trade will solve anything. The Commanders' problems run much deeper than one fix. Things seem off, and injuries have completely derailed the momentum Washington generated in Year 1 under this regime. Holding firm and building through the draft is the preferred approach, but there is just no telling for sure.
It'll be interesting to see what the coming weeks hold. But one NFL insider thought the Commanders might be shopping for incoming players. And two positions come to mind.

Commanders could be looking for help before the 2025 trade deadline
Eric D. Williams of FOX Sports, citing sources across the league, reported that teams are looking to add edge rushers and wide receivers before the deadline. He also thought the Commanders could be among those making calls, although their current record might hold them back from taking the plunge when push comes to shove.
"Sources I spoke with echoed that edge rushers and receivers are at the top of the list for teams looking to make a move at the trade deadline. The Steelers, Commanders and Buffalo Bills make the most sense as potential buyers, according to one league source. The Commanders played without their top three receivers over the weekend, with Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel and Noah Brown all unavailable due to injury. But sitting at 3-4 with quarterback Jayden Daniels suffering a hamstring injury, the Commanders might not be inclined to make a move."
Again, it seems highly unlikely.
Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel Sr. are also back at practice, so throwing more trade assets at the wideout spot might not be in the team's best long-term interests. Adding an edge rusher seems much more feasible, especially considering the Commanders will now be without breakout defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. for the rest of 2025.
This will be determined by where Peters believes this roster is and whether he thinks the Commanders can recover from their lackluster start. They are 3-4 with three challenging games upcoming. Things don't get much easier after the bye week, so letting things play out and taking measures during the 2026 offseason is much more likely unless an opportunity he can't refuse falls into Washington's lap.
Time will tell, but any fans hoping for another blockbuster splash could be out of luck.
Sam Darnold: From Failure to Rebirth – "This is Just the Beginning"

Sam Darnold’s journey has been anything but easy. From being a highly touted prospect to facing public scrutiny and struggles in his earlier years, Darnold’s career has been filled with both highs and lows. However, in the 2025 season, the quarterback seems to have found a renewed sense of purpose, and it’s clear that his time with the Seattle Seahawks is transforming him into the player he always had the potential to be.
"I’ve not only found myself again this season, but I’ve discovered a stronger, more confident version of myself," Darnold said, reflecting on his career’s ups and downs. "There were moments of doubt, failures that weighed heavily on me, but Seattle believed in me, and I’m determined not to let them down. Every game, I feel like I’m becoming more connected with the team, more in sync with the system."

The 2025 season marks a pivotal moment in Darnold's career. After a tumultuous time with the Carolina Panthers, where his potential seemed to have plateaued, the Seahawks provided him with a fresh start. The franchise’s faith in him has been evident from the start, as Darnold has been given the chance to lead the offense with no strings attached, allowing him to showcase his skills without the pressure of living up to past mistakes.
"The road hasn’t been easy," Darnold admits, acknowledging his previous challenges. "But Seattle has trusted me, and that’s something I don’t take lightly. Every snap, every pass, is a step toward proving that I’m capable of leading this team to greatness."
It’s this sense of purpose and maturity that has Darnold feeling more confident than ever. Gone are the doubts that plagued him during his time in Carolina. Now, he’s thriving in Seattle, using each game as an opportunity to improve and show the world what he’s truly capable of. "This is just the beginning," Darnold continued, speaking of his newfound clarity. "I’m excited for what lies ahead, not only for me but for this entire team."
The 2025 Seahawks have a bright future, and Darnold’s resurgence could very well be a key factor in their success. His ability to remain poised under pressure, lead by example, and embrace the role of a team leader has sparked a renewed energy in Seattle’s offense. While it’s still early in the season, Darnold is proving that he’s not just a reclamation project—he’s the future of this team.
As he continues to grow both as a player and a leader, fans are eager to see where his journey will take him next. For Darnold, however, the focus is clear: “This is just the beginning. We’re going to achieve great things.”
