Colin Cowherd finally admits defeat on laughable Dan Campbell take

The Detroit Lions have made a lot of folks believers in the last few seasons, but some notable personalities have yet to completely see the error of their ways in doubting the franchise.

Even in spite of the fact that the Lions have taken over the NFC North and won a pair of playoff games -- feats that were unheard of in recent years -- many still weren't completely sure that the franchise or their head coach, Dan Campbell, were to be taken seriously.

FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd always seemed to be wavering on Campbell and the Lions, but after watching their dominating performance on Monday Night Football, it might be safe to say he's finally all-in.

"Once again, Dan Campbell's culture building, Ted Lasso with biceps energy (was) on display on Monday Night Football, where they've won five straight," Cowherd said.

"I'll be honest, I thought he was a meathead. Biting kneecaps in his first press conference. In the history of Colin right, Colin wrong, this is probably the most wrong I've ever been. Just as Baker Mayfield is a perfect fit for Tampa Bay, Campbell should be the Lions head coach forever. He is a home run."

Cowherd was finally wowed enough by Campbell and the Lions to give them major credit for what they're doing. Specifically in the case of Campbell, he admitted he was very wrong to write him off as terrible before giving him a full chance. He even made a

Ted Lasso reference in relation to the coach.

The Lions are undefeated at home this season, and a big reason is due to Campbell. They have been impressive, given his leadership and cohesion with the front office, as well as the locker room. Safe to say Lions fans would be willing to do what Cowherd suggests and keep Campbell forever, given the football mess they witnessed for 60 years prior.

Cowherd was watching as the Lions were busy blowing out Tampa Bay in Week 7, and was very impressed by what he saw from Detroit. It wasn't just the team's defense, but their offense and mindset that had him fired up.

Specifically, Cowherd also remains impressed with how running back Jahmyr Gibbs has become a revelation, and took notice of how easily the Lions were able to throttle a good Tampa Bay team, another solid NFC contender.

"Detroit's offensive line and Jahymr Gibbs had a different level of energy. They controlled the game. They're deep and they're talented. Remember when Jahmyr Gibbs was picked in the first round and everyone was like, 'You can't pick a running back then,'" Cowherd said.

Perhaps the biggest reason the Lions have been so impressive is Campbell.

Give Cowherd credit for admitting where he was wrong in this case. Hopefully, he's able to keep this energy if the Lions sustain a losing streak.
