Caleb Williams’ Funny Response Regarding Jake Moody Goes Viral
The Chicago Bears had a game to remember in the win against the Washington Commanders, filled with emotions and questionable calls by the refs.
One player who many fans might not have recognized but put on a great performance was kicker Jake Moody, who filled in for Cairo Santos. Even quarterback Caleb Williams wasn’t too familiar with the former San Francisco 49ers kicker, and had a funny response when asked about Moody after his game-winning 38-yard field goal.
Caleb Williams’ Response When Asked About Jake Moody
“I really didn’t know who he was when he first joined the team,” Williams said after the game. “And then I saw him kick a 65-yarder in practice and for what he was able to do, come in here, I know he’s had some tough times recently but been able to come in here, rainy, windy, all of this and come through for us. Proud of him, happy for him, and happy for us as a team.”
Williams’ response regarding Moody has fans having a good laugh, and there’s no way fans (and Caleb) won’t know who he is going forward.
Moody, who signed with the Bears’ practice squad on September 13th, made four of his five field-goal attempts in harsh weather conditions to help the Bears beat the Commanders 25-24.
The former 49ers kicker struggled before ultimately getting cut after appearing in just one game with the team this season. It appeared to be a mental battle for Moody, who benefited from the change of scenery with the Bears.
Moody’s Response After the Game
After celebrating with teammates, Moody was asked about what was going through his mind after everything he’s been through.
“I mean it feels amazing. You know, to get all that support after the game, from all my teammates. I got here not too long ago, but for everybody to embrace me and take me in as one of their own, it’s an amazing feeling.”
Moody was then asked about what he was saying to himself after things went sideways in San Francisco, and this is what he had to say.
“It’s always good to have a fresh start, and I always believed in myself, believed in my teammates. Shoutout to Scott [Daly] and Tory [Taylor], they made the operation really easy on me. Same with the O-line up front, protecting great on that last one. You can’t draw it up any better.”
But it wasn’t a perfect game for Moody either. There was a block field-goal attempt before his game-winning kick, and he was asked about what he was saying to himself as he was lining up for the game-winning field-goal attempt.
And it was the perfect response.
“I like to say, ‘You’re only as good as your next kick,’ so can’t dwell on the past, gotta move on and focus on the next kick.”
Even if Santos isn’t fully healthy next week to kick, the Bears should feel pretty confident with Moody from this point forward.
Patriots Set to Welcome Back Linebacker Jahlani Tavai Ahead of Key Week 5 Clash vs. Bills

By ESPN Staff | Sep 30, 2025
FOXBOROUGH, MA — The New England Patriots may be on the verge of regaining a key piece of their defensive front seven, as linebacker Jahlani Tavai is expected to return to practice this week following a calf injury that sidelined him since the start of the season. Tavai’s return could not come at a better time, with the Patriots preparing for a pivotal Week 5 primetime matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 5.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Tavai is eligible to begin practicing after Week 4, per NFL regulations, and the Patriots have reportedly kept a roster spot open over the past three weeks in anticipation of his comeback. Should he rejoin the active roster, Tavai is expected to start alongside team captain Robert Spillane, filling the spot vacated by Christian Elliss, while also contributing significantly on special teams.
The 29-year-old began his NFL career as a second-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2019. After two seasons with Detroit, which included 31 games played, he was released and quickly signed to New England’s practice squad before being promoted to the 53-man roster. Since then, Tavai has become a key contributor, appearing in 47 regular season games and a playoff contest in 2021.
Tavai’s breakout season came in 2023, when he played in all 17 games, making 16 starts. That year, he took part in 74 percent of the Patriots’ defensive snaps, recording a career-high 110 tackles, five tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He also earned the fourth-best Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade among linebackers with at least 500 snaps. Last season, he continued his consistent performance, tallying 115 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, a sack, and five passes defended.
Throughout his tenure in New England, Tavai has impressed coaches, media, and fans alike with his versatility, work ethic, and ability to thrive in both traditional Patriots-style defenses and the more aggressive scheme being installed this season by head coach Mike Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrel Williams. Analysts have noted that while the new system favors smaller, faster linebackers, Tavai’s athleticism and football IQ could allow him to remain a central figure in New England’s defense.
Should Tavai participate in Week 5 practice, the Patriots will have a 21-day window to either activate him to the active roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve. His return would provide a much-needed boost to a Patriots defense that has faced challenges against both the run and the pass in the early season, giving Vrabel and Williams additional flexibility heading into the middle of the schedule.
As the Patriots look ahead to a tough matchup against the Bills, Tavai’s return represents not only the return of a talented linebacker but also a potential turning point for a defense that has relied heavily on depth and versatility through the first month of the season.
