Bruins Get Devastating Injury News on Top-Line Player
Posted November 2, 2025
The Boston Bruins got a terrible break, losing top-line center Elias Lindholm to what could be a long-term injury. Lindholm left the game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
The initial diagnosis is a lower-body injury, with head coach Marco Sturm delivering an awful bit of news. Lindholm is expected to be out week-to-week. That’s no bueno as it could mean anywhere from three to four weeks to a couple of months, or more.
Sturm confirmed Lindholm would be getting an MRI to confirm the extent of the injury.
Here’s a look at the play leading to the injury:
The gruesome nature of the injury has prompted speculation about how bad the situation could be for Lindholm and the Bruins.
Renowned sports physician Dr. Harjas Grewal weighed in on the situation, estimating that Lindholm could be out of commission for about four to six weeks. Grewal stated:
Of course, Grewal’s opinion comes solely from the video. But judging from Grewal’s expert opinion, the injury might not be as bad as it looked on the ice. Then again, anything is possible. So, the situation could be worse depending on what the MRI reveals.
In the worst of cases, the Bruins center could result in much more severe structural damage to his knee ligaments. For instance, a torn ligament could keep him out of the lineup for most of the regular season.
But here’s hoping Lindholm can get back into the lineup sooner than anticipated.
Lindholm Injury to Test Bruins’ Depth
Elias Lindholm’s injury will be a major test for the Bruins’ depth. The club is already pretty thin down the middle. Beyond Lindholm, Pavel Zacha and Casey Mittelstadt are the only truly experienced NHL centers on the team.
Rookie Fraser Minten and bottom-six grinder Sean Kuraly provide cover. But how much will that help the Bruins?
At least on Saturday afternoon, the Bruins eked out a 2-1 win over an outstanding Carolina Hurricanes club. Their strong defensive play allowed the Bruins to escape with a huge victory.
But the broader question is: How much longer can the Bruins survive without Lindholm?
The answer to that question depends on how long he’ll be out. If it’s the four to six weeks, as Grewal speculated, the Bruins may be able to get by without having to resort to additional moves.
But if Lindholm misses more time, the club may necessitate to find another center.
Boston Likely Keeping Zacha
One of the prevailing rumors around the league has been Zacha heading out the door. The hottest rumor over the last week or so has been Zacha going to the Vancouver Canucks.
But Lindholm’s injury has likely thrown a monkey wrench into those plans. With Lindholm in the lineup, the Bruins had the luxury of moving on from Zacha. But without Lindholm, trading Zacha would be ludicrous.
So, it seems that Zacha might well be staying put for the time being. That’s not to say a trade cannot happen. But whatever GM Don Sweeney chooses to do, it will depend on Lindholm and the standings.
49ers legend Jerry Rice defends Brock Purdy after Troy Aikman mocked him live on national television – And Purdy’s classy response made the entire NFL bow its head in respect
The NFL world was buzzing this week after San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy following comments made by Hall of Famer Troy Aikman during the Monday Night Review. Aikman, the three-time Super Bowl-winning legend of the Dallas Cowboys, mocked Purdy, stating, “A player getting paid big money but contributing nothing to the team.”
Aikman’s words stung. Purdy, who has been battling lingering injuries since training camp – including a shoulder issue that he’s been nursing since preseason and a knee injury that led to him playing only two full games this season – has come under fire. With the 49ers’ early-season struggles on display, Aikman’s criticism felt like the final straw for many fans and commentators who have been questioning the team’s decision to stand behind Purdy despite his challenges.
But what followed was nothing short of a masterclass in resilience and leadership. As the social media firestorm ignited, San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice, a name synonymous with greatness in the franchise’s history, swiftly stepped in to defend his successor.
In a candid post on X (formerly Twitter), Rice, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the 49ers, expressed his unwavering belief in Purdy:
“You can’t judge a man fighting pain you can’t see. I’ve been there — and I see in Brock Purdy the true spirit of the 49ers: humble, relentless, and full of heart. He reminds us what it truly means to wear the red and gold.”
Rice’s words resonated with the 49ers faithful, and within hours, the hashtag #InPurdyWeTrust exploded across social media, rallying support from teammates, fans, and analysts alike. The 49ers locker room, which had already embraced Purdy as a leader, now had the backing of one of the greatest to ever wear the jersey. His calm, humble leadership style was hailed by those closest to him as embodying everything that makes the 49ers special.
As if on cue, Brock Purdy responded on Wednesday evening, breaking his silence with a message that struck a chord with everyone who doubted him:
“I hear all the talk. I get everyone's frustration. But trust me – I’ll be back, not to prove anyone wrong, but to show that the 49ers always fight with heart.”
The response was both measured and personal, showing that Purdy, despite the weight of external pressure, had the resilience and resolve that made him the ideal fit for the 49ers quarterback position. His brief words earned him not only the trust of the fans but the respect of the entire NFL community.
Purdy’s ability to confront the doubts head-on and his unwavering commitment to his team speaks volumes about his character. In a world where athletes often succumb to the pressure of public opinion, Purdy has shown that his mental fortitude is as strong as his physical game. It was this maturity and humility, embodied in his graceful response, that won the NFL’s respect — and, more importantly, it solidified his place as the unquestioned leader of the San Francisco 49ers.
In the face of adversity, it’s clear: Brock Purdy is ready to lead, and with Jerry Rice in his corner, there’s no limit to what this young quarterback can achieve. Fans and critics alike should expect to see the 49ers rise back to prominence as Purdy battles not just to silence the naysayers, but to restore the team’s honor on the field. #InPurdyWeTrust isn't just a hashtag — it’s a movement.
