It should have come as no surprise that Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins has been so productive since signing a 1-year, $2.065 million contract with the team in June.
Dobbins leads the Broncos with 772 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and is averaging a robust 5.0 yards per carry.
It should also come as no surprise that Dobbins is now hurt, and was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury that will almost certainly end his season.
“The move likely ends Dobbins’ season if the Broncos don’t make it to the Super Bowl, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter,” ESPN’s Jeff Legwold wrote on November 15. “Dobbins suffered the injury in the third quarter of last week’s 10-7 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders and has already undergone surgery.”
Dobbins’ Career Has Been Dogged by Injuries
Injuries have been the defining story of Dobbins’ career so far. It’s also the reason the Broncos need to probably already start looking at next year’s free agent market to bring in another veteran, on another 1-year deal, and preferably find someone who is a little more durable than Dobbins.
“I was told JK Dobbins had surgery already on a Lisfranc injury suffered against the Raiders,” CBS Sports NFL reporter Tracy Wolfson wrote on her official X account. “He is expected to be out for the season. Huge loss for the Broncos on and off the field. Dobbins was putting together a tremendous season in a contract year.”
It’s not the first time Dobbins has suffered a season ending injury.
Dobbins rushed for 805 yards and 9 touchdowns for the Baltimore Ravens as a rookie in 2020, then played just 9 games over the next 3 seasons due to injuries, including missing the entire 2021 season with an ACL tear suffered in the final preseason game.
Dobbins returned from his injury to play 8 games in 2022, but tore his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season. He played for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and missed 4 games due to an MCL sprain but still put over 1,000 yards of total offense.
Broncos Went Against Draft Predictions
The Broncos had 2 huge question marks at running back and tight end following the 2024 season, when Denver went 10-7 in the regular season and made a surprise playoff run despite getting essentially zero productivity from either position group.
Draft experts had the Broncos pegged as filling one of those holes in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft but bucked expert opinions by selecting Texas cornerback and Jim Thorpe Award winner Jahdae Barron at No. 20 overall.
While the jury is still out on Barron, we’re about to find out very quickly what the Broncos have in rookie running back and 2025 second round pick (No. 60 overall) RJ Harvey, who has 439 yards of total offense and 6 touchdowns.
The Broncos are 9-2 and winners of 8 consecutive games. They travel to face the Washington Commanders in Week 13.
“The whole NFL seems like they’re doubting us, but we’re going to keep proving them wrong and winning games,” Harvey said after the Broncos defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11.
BREAKING: Mike Kafka Accuses Lions Star of Cheating After Shocking 27-34 OT Loss

DETROIT, MI — In an explosive post-game scene that has set the NFL world on fire, New York Giants head coach Mike Kafka loudly accused the Detroit Lions' star player of using high-tech equipment to “cheat” after the Giants' gut-wrenching 27-34 overtime loss at Ford Field. Kafka, visibly enraged by the heartbreaking defeat, demanded that the NFL immediately launch an emergency investigation into what he believed was an unfair advantage exploited by the Lions’ offensive machine during the game.

The drama began just after the game’s conclusion, when the Giants, having battled back valiantly, watched their hopes of a victory evaporate in overtime as the Lions executed a masterful final drive to clinch the win. Detroit’s offensive star was instrumental in the Lions’ comeback, delivering clutch passes and plays under pressure that ultimately sealed the deal.
But the real fireworks came when Kafka, visibly furious with the loss, stormed onto the field, his face purple with rage. He pointed directly at the Lions' star player and, with his voice trembling with emotion, accused him of using illicit technology to aid the offense during the game.
"HE CHEATED!" Kafka shouted, his words piercing through the tension-filled air. “The NFL needs to investigate this immediately! There is no way that’s just skill — they had help!”

His outburst sent shockwaves through the stadium, where fans, players, and coaches alike were left stunned by the accusations. Kafka’s frustration had reached its boiling point, and he wasn’t about to let the defeat slip away quietly. The camera lights flashed as the scene unfolded, and it quickly became the biggest story of the night.
However, it was the Lions’ star player who would steal the spotlight next. In front of dozens of television cameras, the player slowly raised his head, his face emotionless but resolute. He locked eyes with Kafka, a slight smirk crossing his face. Then, in a calm and deliberate tone, he delivered a response that would echo across the league.
“Nice try, coach, but we earned that win. Focus on your team, not distractions,” the star said, his words sharp and unflinching.
The stadium exploded in chaos. Fans from both teams stood in disbelief at the exchange, with some applauding the star’s unshaken confidence, while others rallied behind Kafka’s furious defense of his team’s honor. But the true impact of the moment was felt when Kafka stood frozen in stunned silence, his face draining of color as the weight of the star's response hit him. The scene was captured live by cameras as millions of NFL fans watched worldwide.
The incident quickly became the focal point of conversation, with many fans and analysts questioning Kafka’s outburst and the nature of his allegations. The NFL swiftly responded, stating that there was no evidence to support Kafka’s accusations and that the game had been officiated fairly. The league reiterated that the integrity of the game remained intact, and that no action would be taken against the Lions or their star player.
For Detroit, the victory was a huge statement win, as their offensive machine came alive when it mattered most, pushing the Lions closer to their playoff aspirations. The star player’s performance was hailed as one of the best of the season, and the win solidified his status as one of the league’s premier talents.
As for Kafka and the Giants, the loss stings all the more in light of the controversy. The team had shown promise, but the overtime collapse and the aftermath of the heated exchange leave questions about their ability to recover. Kafka’s outburst, while likely born from frustration, has only added fuel to the fire surrounding the team’s mental toughness moving forward.
With both the Lions and the Giants now facing intense scrutiny, this moment is sure to reverberate through the NFL landscape for weeks to come.
